"The Florida Conference of United Methodist Women lost a dedicated woman of faith, Mrs. Aggie Reed, February 26, 2015. Aggie was serving as the Conference President when she was called home to be with our Lord. At the Conference level, Aggie served as Secretary of Program Resources, and as the Conference Treasurer. Aggie displayed a calmness and quiet charm which made her a most beloved person. She will be missed and our organization has lost a remarkable "foot soldier". We are all richer for having had her as part of our lives. Rest in Peace, dear sister and friend" "SPRING DAY APART". A Gesture of Gratitude The Lunch Bunch Circle of First United Methodist Church, Clermont, Florida, carried the 2015 Call to Prayer and Self Denial Theme, A Gesture of Gratitude, to a most practical and loving level! Members gathered their many china tea cups, saucers, sugar dishes, creamers, china plates, along with tea bags, scones, cookies, grapes, cheese, jams, and a delicious recipe of clotted cream and traveled to the nearby African Inland Mission (AIM) residence for retired missionaries. Prior arrangements were made concerning time, number and table arrangements for this very special teatime (that day 78 enjoying tea!). Each table in their dining area had a red floral centerpiece. Plates of cheese, cookies, scones, grapes, dishes of jams and cream were placed on the tables. And, of course tea pots of many kinds of tea. Their missionary guests were seated and served and additional Lunch Bunch members sat with them to learn about their service in Africa in such countries as Kenya, South Yemen, Ethiopia and lots more. Africa Inland Mission is an Evangelical Christian mission agency working toward Christ- Centered Churches among all African people. And another day back at their home church, Lunch Bunch Circle did the United Methodist Women Call to Prayer and Self Denial program and their offering went toward the pensions and health care of our retired deaconesses and missionaries covered under the General Board of Global Ministries. Children's Week will be hosting the "Storybook Village" at the State Capitol on Tuesday, April 14 from 9:30 to 2 p.m. Florida's Children's Week - a special annual celebration filled with joyful singing voices of young children, the colorful "Hanging of Hands", and the dedication of thousands of child advocates across Florida, captures the true spirit and commitment Florida has made to our children and youth. For more information, please visit: www.childrensweek.org. On Saturday, April 25th, the global health community will recognize World Malaria Day. Churches across Florida are hosting pancake breakfasts to raise money and awareness for Imagine No Malaria. Join the fun! Visit www.imagineflorida.org for more information.
