Feel free to bring them into the Worship Center to your seat during service. Growing in Faith A weekly devotion in a transformational faith journey. Then He got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished, for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but their heart was hardened. Mark 6:51-52 Someone once said, Fear is the dark room where the devil develops his negatives. This became a reality for the disciples one stormy night. Jesus sent them into a boat at night and a huge wind storm developed. They rowed all night against the waves without making much progress. Being commercial fishermen, rowing in a wind storm was not all that new to them. What became a shock was seeing an image walking on the water towards them. Fear took control of their thoughts causing them to think that Jesus was a ghost and not the Lord. They believed the negative and could not see the possibility of Jesus coming to them. Why do we go to the negative so easily? Because we have not gained proper insight about who Jesus really is. Jesus cares for you and has come to bring peace. Seeing them in need, Jesus came to them in order to bring peace in the midst of a storm. The Holy Spirit has given us the insight as to why fear overwhelmed them, They hadn t learned from the miracle of loaves and their heart was dull. They forgot the miraculous work of provision that Jesus had just accomplished on the land when He fed the five thousand. Does the power of Jesus change based on your circumstances? Instead of fearing the storm they feared their perception of the circumstances. The disciples saw an image on the water and believed that it was impossible for the image to be Jesus. Jesus came to the boat and revealed himself as the I AM, and said do not fear. Jesus is the great I AM, God the Son and we should not fear anything. What do you see when circumstances overwhelm you? Pray that your heart remains soft and learn from God s Word so that when fearful circumstances arise you will see Jesus and not be afraid. Pastor Cary Wacker
