Prayer Line: Jo Kusz 651-771-7438 From the Youth Minister I came in to write this column with the intention of penning some thoughts on the Psalms. I often gravitate toward the Psalms in prayer because they tend to be so eloquently raw with human emotion. Now, not to overgeneralize or paint with too broad of a brush here, but the Psalms are often centered on a plea for help seeking solace from a God who will stop the wicked ways of their enemies, who will come to one s aid in his deepest despair, pleading for salvation from hardship and lamentation. Today s psalm is certainly wrought with a plea for help. Yet we repeated, Lord, when your glory appears, my joy will be full! The Psalms always land on praise through hardship. I often can relate to this because deep within my heart if I am being honest is a bleeding wound of turmoil. Sometimes I have kidded myself into believing I have cauterized the wound and stopped the bleeding, but I know haven t. I feel that conflict, that juxtaposition, of joy and sorrow mingling together in my innermost being. I have great joy because God allows me to. He allows me to hold my head high, to smile with sincerity, and to reach my hand out to others. Yet, I also have deep sorrow because I am human and afflicted with the wounds I have caused to my own soul and afflicted with the wounds others have caused at my expense. I am not unique in this. We all feel this same conflict at some or several points in our lives. When I pray with the Psalms, I am affirmed in the belief that it is fair, just, and reasonable to feel our sorrows and to acknowledge that they are real. They are real. Yes, we are blessed. Yes, we are loved. Yes, we are unimaginably fortunate to be living where we are free. And yes, our sorrows are real. They will change. They will intensify and weaken. Everything around us can and will change, adding more to our sorrows. But there is one thing that will never change, no matter what sorrow you are feeling, and that is this one simple fact: God is good. And when His glory appears, our joy will be full. And here s the best thing: God s glory appears to us every day! In my own life, I hear God s glory in Amelia s laugh. I see it in Cora s sweet dance moves. I feel it in the warm, soft vibration of a purring cat on my lap, or in the sunrise every morning, or in the quiet ticking of my KitCat clock as I sit in silence after all have gone to bed. Friends, I experience God s glory in our community; when the priest elevates the Eucharist in the Consecration that moment when Heaven kisses Earth, and we are all pulled into a paradoxical mystery God s glory appears! His glory is everywhere! While we are pulling oxygen into our lungs and while our hearts are pumping blood through our veins, we will experience inward sorrows, and that is ok. Perhaps our joy cannot be completely full because of this. But we can still find joy, even in our sorrow. Look around you, and find where God s glory appears in your daily life. See it, praise God, and thank Him! Lord, when your glory appears, my joy will be full! - Jessica Nelson H.E.O. Update Thank you for your donations to area food shelves. Many items went to Pres Pastoral Emergencies on October 31. Nov. 7 Julius & Darlene Loipersbeck, Salvation Army, Mplwd. Thank you for your generosity! May God bless you!

FFF: Family-centered Faith Formation Our First Communicants and their parents are reminded of the RECONCILIAITON RETREAT scheduled for them on Wednesday, November 16 th, 7:00 8:00 pm, in Kenney Hall. The First Communicants are presently learning about the Sacrament of Forgiveness (confession), which they will celebrate on February 4 th at 10:00 am in the church. - S. Kathy The Two Feet of Social Concerns Justice: Justice requires participation. Just as a strong democracy requires civic engagement, being the Body of Christ means that we are the hands and feet of Jesus at work in the world. While there are all kinds of ways to do God s work, we have one idea of how U.S. Christians can participate this November: VOTE! - Catherine Woodiwiss Charity: God s blessings and thanks for the new and almost-new clothing items, new microwave, etc., donated this past week. Silverware was also among those donations. It was given to a grandmother raising grandchildren, and you can be assured she was delighted and very grateful as her need for it was great. Silverware is a precious commodity and not often donated. Needed: paper products, dish and hand soaps, quarters for laundry, food and gas gift cards. God weeps because we don t get it. We don t understand that we are all brothers and sisters. - Archbishop Desmond Tutu Parish Council Members 2016-2017 Presentation Parish Council Members are as follows: Bill Josten Carol Henkes Jonathan Scrafford Teri Garrity Catherine Martinez Dan Gilbert Barb Swanson Jim Heymans Andy Sandberg Sean Kazos Mike Picha Heather Chouravong Chair Vice Chair, Liturgy Secretary, Admin/Finance Admin/Finance Faith Formation, Youth Ministry SAC (School Advisory Council) Social Justice Events Events Faith Formation, Youth Ministry Finance Council Members 2016-2017 Presentation Finance Council Members are as follows: Louise Fratto, Chair Jim Schwalbach, Vice Chair Mark Gabriel, Secretary Jim Wilson Jim O Brien Presentation Trustees are as follows: James Miettunen (Treasurer) Michelle Ott (Secretary) Trustees 2016-2017 In today s second reading, St. Paul prays that the Thessalonians may be strengthened and empowered to use our time and talents for the good others. Inspired by the requests of several parishioners and the great success of our whole-day adoration on Thursdays, Presentation Parish is blessed to announce the start of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in our Divine Mercy Chapel! The tentative date for the solemn commencement of it is Sunday, February 5 th, 2017, after the 10:30 am Mass. Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Eucharist is a Eucharistic devotion in which the members of a community unite in taking time of adoration before the Most Blessed Sacrament, ongoing for the day and night, seven days a week. On the weekend of December 10-11, I have invited Fr. Victor P. Warkulwiz, M.S.S., a Missionary Priest of the Blessed Sacrament, to our parish to enlighten us about Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and prepare us to undertake this great mission. At that time we will have the chance to sign up to join others in this practice of prayerful adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist. Please prayerfully consider your availability to spend one hour or more each week in intimate conversation and quiet meditation with our Lord. Do you hear the Lord calling you to come to Him? We also will have an exhibit of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World on the weekend of December 10-11. Jesus waits for us in the Blessed Sacrament. He waits for our little Acts of faith, adoration, love, thanksgiving, repentance, reparation and charity that we can offer Him as we contemplate His Divine Majesty in the Blessed Sacrament. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because of His Infinite love for us! - St. Teresa of Calcutta
