Materials Dinner sized paper plate with ridges on the edge, 1 per child. 8.5 x 11 piece of black construction paper per child White copy paper Crayons/chalk/water colors glue and stapler Preparations 1. Print out the pattern for the cross silhouette. 2. Print out the verse and make copies, one per child. 3. Fold cross silhouette pattern along line, then cut around the shape. Unfold. He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. 4. Place the template on the black construction paper and cut out, creating cross silhouette. Cut out one per child. 5. Set out glue sticks and coloring supplies. That s something very good to know. But many people don t know that. So do you know what God wants us to do? He wants us to go and tell others this very important news. So today we are going to make something we can show and tell them, too. Here s what it looks like (Hold up example of craft) Directions 1. Show children your finished craft, reading the words to them. 2. Have the children color in the paper plate in sky/sunset colors. Show them how you did yours to aid them. 3. Have the children glue their verse on the bottom of the silhouette portion. Staple the silhouette in place along the bottom of the plate. 4. Make sure to write each child s name on their craft.
