THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD KRŠTENJE GOSPODINOVO One of the most important events and dates that every Christian must remember is the date of their baptism. That is the day when we become members of the Christ s Church and step onto the path of salvation. On the one hand we gloriously celebrate our birthdays, on the other unfortunately, most of us do not even know the date when we were baptized into a new life in Christ. Today, the whole Church celebrates the moment Jesus came down into the waters of the Jordan River to receive baptism by John. Although He did not need to be baptized because He is without sin, Jesus comes to John, and at the time of baptism the sky fades and a voice from heaven is heard: This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. John testifies that Jesus is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire, and John was among the first who received this baptism by Jesus, while in the womb of his mother Elizabeth. Since that time and until the end of his life, John the Baptist was the true fire that burned for Jesus and his Kingdom and was consumed by it. The date of our baptism was the date when we were called to Jesus and His Kingdom to burn and be consumed by it. What is my life like? Am I a fire burning in faith, or just smoke that the winds carry wherever they want? KRŠTENJE OGNJEM From Fr.

LITURGICAL CORNER LITURGIJSKI KUTAK Dear Friends! We have all been on this journey of faith together. For us Christians it is important to belong, it is important to be in the community, it is crucial to celebrate together the mysteries of our faith. And always when we come together to pray, worship and adore our Lord, it is important that we do it properly. Because of that we decided to start with a new column in our bulletin. Here, we will grow together in understanding and the practices of our faith. Every week, we will be working on one aspect of our parish life that we should improve. Tip No. 1: Be at the church on time and keep the silence! It is crucial for us to come to the church on time. In that way we have some time to prepare ours-elves for the celebration that we are about to participate in. Our weekly schedule is well known, and every part of the mass is important. Holy mass is not a show, it is a real encounter between God and his people. Because of that we are called to keep the silence while at the church. In that way we will have an opportunity to encounter God, and we will not disturb other people who want to pray and fully participate in the celebration of the sacred mysteries. If you are late for the mass, enter the church in silence, and find your place in the pew, without shaking hands, talking with other people etc. More to come next week FOR RENT - IZNAJMLJUJE SE 3OTH ST. & PRINCETON AVE. 2 bedroom apartment (3009 S.
