It is a privilege to provide this for consecration. November 18, 2018 Saint Mary Our Lady of Grace In the words of Saint Francis of Assisi: May the Lord, give you peace! My friends as we prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in our homes this week, I invite you to join me around the table of Word and Eucharist on Thanksgiving morning at 9AM. It is most fitting that we gather to celebrate and give thanks and praise to God for all the many gifts given to us through our Savior, Jesus the Christ. Let us rejoice my friends in God s love and give thanks for the blessings showered upon us, our families and our community here at Saint Mary Our Lady of Grace. During this celebration a special collection of canned goods and nonperishable items will be collected for Daystar, our parish outreach ministry. I ask that you please be generous and bring an item or two so that we may provide families with food baskets during the holidays. Father James, Deacon Michael and I extend to each of you heartfelt blessings on this special day set aside to give thanks and praise. Should you be unable to join in the celebration here at church please know that you and your family will be remembered from grateful hearts for the gift you are to us and our community. As you gather around your table it is my hope that a prayer of thanksgiving will be offered. If you do not have one, I share a favorite of mine that was written by Kris Ediger. May it bring you a sense of the depth of what we celebrate. We take so much for granted of life and liberty, and think that we deserve it; that all was done for me. Think how they must have struggled, new pilgrims in this land. So many died from hardships yet still they made a stand. When all the work was finished, new crops sowed in the ground, they gathered with their neighbors, asked blessings all around. For our hearing impaired Parishioners, signing is available at the 4:00pm Mass on Saturdays. Abundant blessings to all, Oh, God, help us be grateful for gifts you ve sent our way. For these we want to thank you on this Thanksgiving day. PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS O loving and gracious God, Father of all, you bless your people in every time and season and provide for their needs through your providential care. Your Church is continually in need of priests, sisters and brothers to offer themselves in the service of the gospel by lives of dedicated love. Open the hearts of your sons and daughters to listen to your call in their lives. Give them the gift of understanding to discern Your invitation to serve you and your Church. Give them the gift of courage to follow your call. May they have the spirit of young Samuel who found fulfillment in his life when he said to you, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening." We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
