RAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray... Almighty God, you anointed Jesus at his baptism with the Holy Spirit and revealed him as your beloved Son. Keep all who are born of water and the Spirit faithful in your service, that we may rejoice to be called children of God, through Jesus hrist, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen (sit) FIRST READING... Isaiah 43:1-7 Near the end of Israel's exile in Babylon, God promises to bring them home. They need no longer be afraid, because the one who formed, created, and called them by name now redeems them from all their enemies. God declares them precious and honored, and God loves them. Acts 8:14-17 eter and John are sent to support the new hristians in Samaria, a group that was recently baptized after hearing the good news of hrist through the preaching of hilip. Glory to you, O Lord. HOLY GOSEL... Luke 3:15-17, 21-22 The reading opens with questions about the identity of the Messiah. John the Baptist insists that he is not the Messiah; instead he points ahead to one who is coming. (stand) (stand) AOSTLES REED God has made us his people through our Baptism into hrist. Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus hrist, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under ontius ilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen THE RAYERS United as one body in hrist, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those in need. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. THE OMMUNION ome to the table. Feast on God s abundant life for you. Thanks be to God. ommunion this evening will be by intinction. The pastor will give you the bread. Before consuming it, dip the bread into the chalice held by the communion assistant. Those concerned may choose to dip into the white grape juice. The body and blood of our Lord Jesus hrist strengthen you and keep you in his grace. Amen OST-OMMUNION RAYER Let us pray. We thank you, O God, that you have fed us at your banqueting table with bread and wine beyond compare, the very life of hrist for us. Send your Spirit with us now, that we may set the captive free, use your gifts to build one another up, and in everything reflect your glory revealed in Jesus hrist, our Savior and Lord.
