Large print bulletins are available and children s bulletins are available on the table in the Narthex. A nursery is available for infants up to 5 years-of-age.

Those who are able are invited to stand. PRELUDE Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation Henry Purcell LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION Moment of silence to prepare your hearts for worship SONG OF DEVOTION (screen) (please remain seated) #138 Holy Ground LET US WORSHIP GOD TOGETHER CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 28:6-9) Leader: Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy. People: The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him. Leader: The Lord is the strength of His people, a fortress of salvation for His Anointed One. People: Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. INVOCATION Leader: Gracious God, listen to our prayers and transform us into Your children. We offer You our worship and praise and seek to be made new in prayer. Drive the evil one from our lives and protect us from all temptation. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. SONGS of PRAISE (hymnal and screen) #633 Open Our Eyes, Lord #634 More Love to Thee CALL TO CONFESSION (Psalm 86:4-7) Leader: You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to You. Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. When I am in distress, I call to You, because You answer me. Let us confess our sins to God so that the grace of Christ might cover our sins and draw us into God s gracious love. Please join me in silent prayer. SILENT PRAYER

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Almighty God, forgive us for not being in prayer more. We confess that we are timid and afraid to come to You on our own. We feel unworthy and unprepared to enter Your Holy presence. Help us to come to You through the grace of Jesus Christ and in the power of Your unconditional love. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (Psalm 66:16-20) Leader: Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me. I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me! Sisters and brothers in Christ, believe the good news: through faith in Christ we are forgiven. AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: The Apostle s Creed Unison: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Announcements September 3, 2017 When we feel inadequate or think what we have to offer isn't sufficient, let's remember that God asks us to give what we have in faithful obedience. He is the one who makes it "enough." ---Stewardship Committee Do you enjoy meeting new people or make people smile? We have the place for you! The House of Compassion is seeking a few good people to help staff our Supply Closet. This is a room at HOC where families come monthly to pick out three non-food items and a bonus item to take home. The main requirements are to have a pleasant smile, know the alphabet and occasionally to be able to stock and organize the shelves of supplies. Our current openings are Tuesday mornings 10:00-12:00 and Thursday afternoons 1:00-4:15. There will always be someone else in the office with you. If you have questions or are interested in helping, contact Karen or Maryna at HOC 641-752-5999. Even if you can t commit to each week, we may be able to match you with someone else, so please call. ---Karen Frohwein 641-752-5999 www.houseofcompassion.net The House of Compassion "Stuff the Bus" school supply distribution was held August 5, and 7, was a huge success, thanks to the community. Backpacks filled with basic school supplies were given to 650 Marshall County students in Preschool and grades K- 12. Nearly an additional 160 was given out (without backpacks) at the House of Compassion in the following two weeks. Extra supplies were given to the schools. Thanks goes to all who helped and donated. Whether your church set out a collection box or whether individuals donated at work or on their own, we appreciate all the donations and financial help! We couldn t do this project without help. ---Karen Frohwein, Director
