A Message from: Sister Mary Alyce September 16, 2018 The Work of Christmas When the song of the angels is stilled, When the star in the sky is gone, When the kings and princes are home, When the shepherds are back with their flock, The work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, To heal the broken To feed the hungry, To release prisoners, To rebuild the nations, To bring peace among all, To make music in the heart. The Christmas season is full of poetic images and songs so I just could not resist sharing this poem on The Feast of Epiphany. The Star has appeared, the Light has come and now we have no excuse to not move out beyond our comfort zones and share the Light with others. It only takes a spark to get a fire glowing. For those of you who have access to the worldwide web on your computer or smartphone, try this search and sit for 3 minutes with the reflection on this song: Pass it on-it Only Takes a Spark by Nicole Denolo. This can be the theme song for each of us as we move into 2019 full of Hope and Vision for a grace-filled future for each of us and for all of us at Saint Luke Parish. How beautiful this song was at Mass this weekend! Thank you, Joe, for accommodating my request on such short notice. Until next time.sister Mary Alyce

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT: the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body, and co-partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel. (Ephesians 3:6) Today we celebrate that Christ came to all of us, not just the Hebrews. He has given each of us unique gifts. We all have different yet equally valuable roles to play in the Body of Christ. Pray daily and ask God how He wants you to use your gifts so that we may all be one. VOCATIONS: The Epiphany -- January 6, 2019 Opening their treasure chests, they offered Him gifts. Are you beginning to see your life as a gift to be given to the Lord as a priest, deacon, religious sister or brother? Contact Fr. Christopher Luoni (330) 744-8451, or by email: cluoni@youngstowndiocese.org. That, just as the Magi were inspired by the Holy Spirit, young men and women will be inspired to follow in the footsteps of the Lord as priests, deacons and consecrated religious, we pray to the Lord. Parish Mission Statement We are members of Saint Luke Parish, a Roman Catholic Christian Community of Faith within the Diocese of Youngstown. We are deeply rooted in both Scripture and Tradition. Born in Baptism and sustained by the celebration of the Eucharist, we embrace our life in Christ through prayer and sacrament, service and outreach, proclamation of the Word and formation in faith. Guided by the Holy Spirit and motivated by our love of God and of all people, we are both sign and an instrument of the Kingdom of Promise. Our unique blessing and gift is that we are a parish family which creates a warm and welcoming worship environment and participates fully in the planning and celebration of the Liturgy.
