Please call e rectory for more information. LITANY THE SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT - PEACE Priest- Last Sunday we lit e first candle in our Advent Wrea, e candle of hope. We light it again as we remember at Christ will come again to fulfill all of God s promises to us. - The second candle of Advent is e Candle of Peace. It is sometimes called e Belehem Candle to remind us of e place in which preparations were made to receive and cradle e Christ child. People- Peace is a gift at we must be prepared for. God gives us e gift of peace when we turn to him in fai. Reader- The prophet Isaiah calls Christ e Prince of Peace. Through John e Baptist and all e oer prophets, God asks us to prepare our hearts so at he may come in. Priest - Our hope is in God, and in his son Jesus Christ Our peace is found in him. WORD ON FIRE ENGAGE Effective immediately, St. Anony of Padua Parish has enrolled in an education program designed and animated by Bishop Robert Barron called "Word On Fire Engage." It is very well done and easy to understand and follow. It is, in my opinion, a superb program. If you decide to enroll, each week (approx.) you will receive, by email, a video clip of approximately 30 minutes at you can watch whenever you choose. The topics are very informative, interesting and educational. BIBLE STUDY In conjunction wi e Bishop's pastoral letter, e diocesan priority, and e liturgical year, ere will a bible study shared e first Thursday of each mon beginning Thursday January 3, 2019 and ending May 2, 2019 at e Diocesan Centre in Timmins. Each session, beginning at 7:00 p.m. and animated by Monsignor Pat, will be 1-1/2 to 2 hours long. The study will focus on e gospel of Luke. Bring a bible, and writing material. All are welcome. TABLES FOR SALE The Knights of Columbus have purchased new tables for e parish hall. As a result, e rectangular wooden tables at are currently in e hall are up for sale for $20. each. THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL # 12859 would like to ank all ose who helped to make e meat pies sold in November 25 at our breakfast and bake sale. We would also like to extend a heartfelt ank you to ose who kindly supported us by purchasing meat pies. Thank you! CHILDREN INTERESTED IN JOINING THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR is year are asked to stay after 11:00 a.m. mass. The Childrens Choir will sing Christmas Eve at e 5:00 p.m. mass. There is a large variety of books to choose from for your reading enjoyment. ADVENT PRAYER Dear Lord, Through e darkness, I look for your wisdom. I want my heart to be open to you. But sometimes in ese days, it seems at so many ings come between us. Help me to be awake and aware of e radiance you bring to my life. Help me to be grateful each day for e blessings of family and friends. Let me be a peacemaker in my own life, and in e world. Let me pray especially for is difficult world and ose who are so in need of an end to violence. My heart begs for is as my Advent prayer today. PLEASE KEEP FATHER MARCEL BRUNEAU IN YOUR PRAYERS. Donations of money are used to purchase non-perishable goods such as turkeys/hams, potatoes, carrots, fruit and any staples at we are short of. If enough money is generated, we also buy pyjamas for many and mitts and gloves. Special collection envelopes can be found in e pews or at e church entrance.
