PASTORAL LEADER S NOTES Dear Parishioners, Last week we learned that our Sister Parish in Erwin, TN now has a multi-purpose building on their land. Six years ago we signed our first covenant with Fr. Tom Charters and his handful of parishioners when they were called The Catholic Community of Unicoi County and using the local Elks Club building to celebrate Mass on Sunday. Today they have over 125 parishioners and are now called St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Mission and have their own building on a piece of land the diocese of Knoxville purchased for them. In between using the Elks Club and having their own building the parish purchased a house they used for their church, offices and rectory. This week Fr. Tom told me they are selling the house and they are relocating the church and office furniture to their new building and Fr. Tom will be moving into another home (see picture to the left) that they are renting for him. As you can imagine these are very exciting days for our Sister Parish. Along with all of the packing and moving they have also been working very hard to lower their building debt which today stands at $225,567.92. I know that our Parish Councils and our Picnic Committees in both parishes are discussing ways to provide some financial assistance. What a great way for us to help St. Michael s as they continue to grow in becoming a stable parish in Erwin, TN! ++++++++++++++++++++++ As we celebrate FATHER S DAY this weekend and remember all those who have been fathers to us in any way, take time to pray this prayer with your family: For those who have fathered us into birth, for those we call father who have shown us the face of our Father in heaven, for expectant fathers and those whose arms ache to cradle their own, for fathers who have borne the pain of losing a child, for fathers who have laid down their life for their children: May the one who is Father and Lord of all be their guide and their peace. For all fathers, living or dead, those nearby or those distanced by miles, disease, or division: May they all be embraced and strengthened by the loving arms of God, the Father of us all. Amen. - Diana Macalintal St. Mary s Winneconne Picnic is NEXT SUNDAY, June 24 11:00am-4:00pm Please don t forget to sign-up to give a couple hours of your time to help us on picnic day. That still leaves you THREE hours to check out the Silent Auction, enjoy a delicious chicken dinner, and listen to the WHS Polka Band and Big Boomba s Boppers band. Remember it takes a WHOLE parish to put on a picnic! Sr. Pam
