INTRODUCE THE VERSE: Everyone wants to have friends. Everyone needs to have friends. It is important to have others you can share with. And it is wonderful to know that there is Someone who wants to be your very best Friend. Let s learn today s Bible verse that tells us how to get friends and about one special Friend. Clap slowly and evenly. Clap on the underlined words of each line below. Words that come on the clap are accented. A man who hath friends must show him-self friend-ly (clap).... BIBLE LESSON HELPS: Throughout Card 3-6 Card 4-2 Card 4-3 Card 4-4 Card 4-5 The Main Thrust statement is It is God the Holy Spirit who will help you be a friend to others. Each time you use this, at be a friend, children extend hand as if ready to shake hands. At word others, children point to a number of people. Review last week s memory verse (2 Corinthians 5:17) with motions. Have children kneel as if in prayer at Temple, listening. Give this message phrase by phrase to children, who will whisper each sentence after you. Quick, Saul! Leave Jerusalem immediately. They will not believe your testimony about Me. Move hand in beckoning motion. Everyone, as Barnabas, says, I need you. God needs you. Come and help. On fingers, enumerate together the teachers and prophets. Have children repeat each one after you: Barnabas, Simeon, Lucius, Manaen, Saul. Everyone step in place to make sound of a big crowd going to docks. Hug three children goodbye as if they were Saul, Barnabas, and John Mark. They get on ship as others wave and call, We will pray for you. BIBLE LEARNING GAME: Be a Friend Form a circle with the children. Choose two children to stand in center. Everyone claps and sings to Mulberry Bush tune: God will help you be a friend, Be a friend, be a friend. God will help you be a friend, Be a friend to others. While one child from center shakes hands and makes a comment of friendly greeting to a child next to you, the other child from center does the same with child on other side of you. Children from center continue around circle, shaking hands, moving away from you. The last two on the circle to have their hands shaken become the next ones inside the circle. The children from inside circle now take a place on either side of you. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375

LEARNING ABOUT THE BIBLE & THE OLD TESTAMENT BOOKS WEEK #20 (Place figure #1.) So far we have learned about ten of the Minor Prophets. Let s see if you can recall all ten: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai. (Place figures #39 and #40.) Today, we are going to learn about the last two Minor Prophets which are also the last two books of the Old Testament. They are Zechariah and Malachi. (Place Zechariah wordstrip.) Zechariah wrote about the coming Messiah. The prophecies about Jesus in this book are among the greatest of the Minor Prophets. He wrote about events that would be fulfilled when Jesus came to earth the first time and about other events that have yet to be fulfilled when He comes the second time. (Place Malachi wordstrip.) The last Minor Prophet, as well as the last book of the Old Testament, is Malachi. The Jews had forgotten about the judgment their nation had received from God a little over 100 years before, so God used Malachi to warn the people and remind them that His judgment is loving and has purpose. Let s say the books of Zechariah and Malachi together. We have now learned the 12 books of the Minor Prophets. Let s say them all again: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum. Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375

GO AND TELL BOX Week #21 Great Commission #3 INFORMATION (Suggested item to put in the Go and Tell Box Atheist and Muslim figures.) Let s review what we learned about these c hildren last week. (Place figure and wordstrips from previous week on flannelboard.) 1. Christian They are the true believers in Jesus. 2. Nominal They only say they are Christians. 3. Unbe lie ve r They have some knowledge of the Gospel but have not believed in a nd received Jesus as their personal Saviour. Let s look in our Go and Tell Box. (Pull out each figure and wordstrip as you talk about them.) It has been said that America is the melting pot of the world. This means that many people come here from other countries and bring their religious beliefs with them. Therefore, some of the different religious groups we will talk about live right here in America. There are different religious groups who do not believe in the God of the Bible. They may have heard of the true and living God, but their beliefs do not include the true God. 1. Atheist There are 37 million people in America who claim to be atheists. (Place figure and wordstrip on the flannelboard.) They believe there is no God, and they do not accept the Bible as God s Word. You may know someone who claims to be a n atheist. Atheists are usually adults, but sometimes a child says he is one just because someone else says so. 2. Muslim There are about six and a half million people in America who claim to be Muslims. (Place figure and wordstrip on the flannelboard.) To a Muslim, their god is far away, and people cannot know him in a personal way. To them, forgiveness is primarily achieved by practicing the five pillars of Islam. a. Recitals of the creed, There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his Prophet. b. Daily prayer - five times a day at a set time. c. Fasting (not eating) during the month of Ramadan. d. Almsgiving (giving money) to the poor. e. Pilgrimage (making a trip) to Mecca required, if financially possible. It is important that we tell these people about Jesus. Remember that the Great Commission says we are to Go... to every creature. (person) They are lost in sin until they believe in the true God and His Son, Jesus. Adapted from: THE GREAT COMMISSION MISSIONS (Original content from William Carey Library) PRAYER THANK God for Good News Club (Released Time Class) where you learn the Truth about God. ASK God to help you to be bold in sharing the Lord Jesus with others who do not know Him. CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. P.O. BOX 4375 HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375
