THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF ST JOHN THE EVANGELIST, GORDON THE TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY 5 NOVEMBER 2017 P R A Y F O R B E N N I T A Dear Friends, it is with sadness I have to report that Bishop Michael will not be able to come to us to assist us with our Mission in person until further notice. This is due to his beloved wife Bennita being gravely ill and on the Lung Transplant List. This requires her to be no further than two hours from Melbourne, and she must have a carer, and Michael is that for her. Many of you may be aware that the transplant list wait can be long or short, it simply depends on the availability of a suitable donor. Thus we do not know how long this will take. Even if it happens within the next twelve months, there is still much recovery and rehab time after that Michael will need to assist Bennita with. The good news is that in consultation with Michael and the Wardens, he is still able to provide the Shofar and the Lexio, and we will remunerate him appropriately for that work he does. It would appear that after a number of years, we are on the cusp of being able to deliver the Shofar and the Lexio to other parishes in the wider church, which helps us fulfil one of the goals of our 2005 Mission Statement. Please keep Bennita and Michael in your prayers. Father Keith W E L C O M E T O S T J O H N S I was glad when they said unto me, We will go into the house of the Lord. Group leaders and activity leaders, this is notice to start writing your ARTICLES FOR THE PARISH REVIEW, to be submitted to Chris Russell, e-mail chris@clrussell.com.au. Contact John Brandon, johnbrandon@bigpond.com. The CHRISTMAS NIGHT MARKET returns this year, 1 December. RECEIPTS FOR DONATIONS during MUSIC MONTH The Treasurer reports that he expects to have the receipts issued in the next few weeks for all donations recently received. Given the success of Music Month where over $10,000 was raised in donations small and large, funds in the Music Association are now over $200,000. Thank you to all who gave and continue to give to support this important aspect of our parish. Consider whether you could serve as an INTERCESSOR at the 9:30AM service next year. Could you, once a month, give someone A RIDE TO AND FROM CHURCH? We have parishioners that would appreciate transport for a Sunday morning service, Thursday morning service or Evensong. Let the church office know if you could be of service getting someone to services. LOST AND FOUND something shiny was recently found on the church grounds and is waiting in the church office to be claimed. 4
LET THE CHURCH KNOW when you or someone in your family is in the hospital so we may visit and pray for you. The PRAYER LIST begins anew each month. You need to turn in names each month, either by writing them on the clipboard in the narthex (to be found on the table near the steps down to the crypt and church office) or by e-mailing them to pewbulletin@stjohnsgordon.org.au.
