ST. MARY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION Dear Parishioners: FIRST OFF, PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT NEXT WEEKEND, WE RESUME THE 11 AM MASS, IN- STEAD OF 10 AM!! Tell your friends! In this issue you will find the parish financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. As we examine the numbers, I believe it will be evident why the recent Grateful Giving increased weekly offering initiative was so important in sustaining the life of the parish. The St. Mary Finance Council is committed to transparency of all of our income and expenditures. The names of those who sit on the council are listed at the end of the report, should any parish member desire to make contact with questions or comments. There are some wonderful photographs, on the next page, of St. Mary School children and parents. In case you d be wondering, these were taken at what we call Orientation Night. That is why the children are not in uniforms. I hope and pray that all the children of the parish have had a positive start to the school year. I want to remind families of my very serious responsibility to provide for adequate education in our Catholic Faith. It is important for our children who attend school elsewhere including those who have attended Catholic school for some of their elementary years and then transferred to public school to be engaged in our Parish School of Religion. Kelly Hassenzahl, our Director of Faith Formation, has a wonderful way of reaching out to families and lovingly exhorting them at the first teachers in the way of Faith, to build a partnership between home and parish. We are planning what we believe is going to be an enjoyable and also very informative event as part of our annual fall kick-off of Faith Formation. Look in future issues of the bulletin for extended information regarding a Disciple Maker Faire, to be held on Sunday, September 17. There will be fun activities, a presentation by Terrie Baldwin from the diocesan Evangelization Office, and an opportunity for parishioners of all ages to explore ministries and groups within the parish, wherein for them to share the gifts charisms that God has given them. As was mentioned in last week s bulletin, we have placed an image of the Korean Madonna, gifted to us by Fr. Augustine Lee, in the sanctuary of Church. She reminds us: 1) that Mary has many faces for her children throughout the world, because she truly desires to be a Mother to us all, and 2) to pray for our brothers and sisters in Korea, during these tumultuous days.
