Opening Hymn All Hail the Power of Jesus Name 1. All hail the pow r of Jesus name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem and crown him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem and crown him Lord of all. 4. Hail him, ye heirs of David s line, whom David Lord did call, The God incarnate, man divine, and crown him Lord of all. The God incarnate, man divine, and crown him Lord of all. 5. Sinners, whose love can ne er forget the wormwood and the gall, Go, spread your trophies at his feet and crown him Lord of all. Go, spread your trophies at his feet and crown him Lord of all. 7. Oh, that with yonder sacred throng we at his feet may fall! We ll join the everlasting song and crown him Lord of all. We ll join the everlasting song and crown him Lord of all. Responsive Reading Psalm 118:19-24 P: Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. C: This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it. P: I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation. ~ 3 ~

C: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. P: This is the Lord s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. C: This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Confession and Absolution P: As we celebrate days in the life and ministry of our Savior, we acknowledge that our days are burdened with sin and guilt. Let us confess our sins to God and ask his forgiveness. C: Almighty God, we know your Word and your will, yet we turn from you and listen to the temptations of the world around us. We follow our own sinful desires. Each day we sin against you in our thoughts, words and actions. Have mercy on us and forgive us for the sake of Jesus our Savior. P: God has answered our prayers and he has become our salvation. Jesus Christ, the stone the builders rejected, was nailed to the cross and there he suffered and died for our sins. Raised from death, he has become the cornerstone. For his sake, I announce to you that your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. This is the Lord s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. C: This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! ~ 4 ~

Hymn of Praise This is the Day the Lord has Made / God Loves Me Dearly 1. This is the day the Lord has made; he calls the hours his own. Let heav n rejoice, let earth be glad and praise surround the throne. 5. Hosanna in the highest strains the Church on earth can raise. The highest heav ns, in which he reigns, shall give him nobler praise. 1. God loves me dearly, grants me salvation, God loves me dearly, loves even me. Therefore I ll say again: God loves me dearly, God loves me dearly, loves even me. 4. Jesus, my Savior, himself did offer; Jesus, my Savior, paid all I owed. Therefore I ll say again: God loves me dearly, God loves me dearly, loves even me. An Advent Reading and Meditation C: The King shall come when morning dawns and light triumphant breaks, When beauty gilds the eastern hills and life to joy awakes. Not as of old a little child, to bear and fight and die, But crowned with glory like the sun that lights the morning sky. A Christmas Reading and Meditation C: Let our gladness have no end, alleluia! earth did Christ descend, alleluia! On this day God gave us Christ, his Son, to save us; Christ, his Son, to save us. An Epiphany Reading and Meditation C: As with gladness men of old did the guiding star behold; As with joy they hailed its light leading onward, beaming bright; So, most gracious Lord, may we evermore be led by thee. A Lent Reading and Meditation C: O perfect life of love! All, all is finished now, All that he left his throne above to do for us below. In perfect love he dies; for me he dies, for me. O all-atoning Sacrifice, I cling by faith to thee. An Easter Reading and Meditation C: Christ the Lord is ris n today! saints on earth and angels say; Raise your joys and triumphs high; sing, ye heav ns, and earth, reply. Vain the stone, the watch, the seal; Christ hath burst the gates of hell. Death in vain forbids his rise; Christ has opened paradise. A Pentecost Reading and Meditation C: Jesus shall reign where er the sun Does its successive journeys run; His kingdom stretch from shore to shore Till moons shall wax and wane no more. Let ev ry creature rise and bring Honors peculiar ~ 6 ~

to our King; Angels descend with songs again, And earth repeat the loud amen. Offering & Attendance/Involvement Cards Prayers of the Church P: Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs. Brief silence P: Lord God, we praise You for sending Your Son in our flesh to fulfill the Law on our behalf. We thank You that although we sin much, He is our righteousness and peace. Thank You for the countless blessings You have given this past year for the whole of our lives, our well-being and that You do not withhold from us Your saving Word. Teach us to number our days so that the blessings and distractions of this life never turn our hearts from You. Lord Jesus Christ, C: You are the same yesterday and today and forever. P: Eternal God, You have been our dwelling place in every generation, but our years pass quickly. As this year draws to a close, prepare our hearts for Your Son s return. Forgive the sins of this past year those we know and those unknown to us. Heal any division in our families, friendships and in this church, and keep us faithful to Christ our Lord in the coming year, repentant of our sins and confident in His mercy and truth. Lord Jesus Christ, C: You are the same yesterday and today and forever. P: Gracious Father, calm the hearts of those who look ~ 7 ~

to the future with foreboding or fear, rather than with confidence and hope. For all who face illness, pain and suffering, and those to whom death draws near, give the peace that only You can give. [We pray especially for.] Lord Jesus Christ, C: You are the same yesterday and today and forever. P: O God, bless this land in the new year. Give us honest work, effective education and leaders of good character. Save us from violence and discord, bringing a common purpose and harmony where there is division. As we elect new officials in the coming year, guide us to make wise decisions and establish policies and laws that serve the common good. Lord Jesus Christ, C: You are the same yesterday and today and forever. P: Lord Jesus, by Your incarnation You joined divinity to humanity and humanity to divinity. Keep far from us all doubts about You, knowing that as the God- Man You have won our salvation. Give us faith in Your promises, and make us worthy, through simple faith, to eat and drink Your body and blood for our forgiveness. Lord Jesus Christ C: You are the same yesterday and today and forever. P: Into Your hands, O Lord, we commend ourselves and all for whom we pray, trusting in Your mercy, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. Lord s Prayer C: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy ~ 8 ~

name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
