Church Christmas Card Post Office Open The Christmas post office will be open for business on Sunday, December 4 th. Once again this year, the church is providing a Christmas card delivery service for those of you sending cards to members of Bermuda Hundred UMC that attend church regularly. Please do not put cards in the box that will need a stamp to mail them. All the cards in the post office should be for hand delivery on Sunday mornings when people get to church. It would be very helpful for our "Santa Post Office Workers" if you could put your cards in alphabetical order. Enjoy this opportunity to send lots of cards with no postage! Attention all bakers We're meeting on Wednesday, December 14 at 1:30pm in the Grundy Parlor to put together cookie bags for special people in our Church community. Bring 2 dozen of your favorite homemade cookies and help fill the bags (and distribute if you can). Recommendations welcomed. See Peggy Proper if you have any questions. The Prayer Shawl Ministry will not meet in December. See Lilly Enz for more information. Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church December 2016

CPR/AED Training Our CPR/AED certification class was held in the fellowship hall on Saturday, November 26. Those attending and completing the course were: Wilma Stubblefield, Ditty Mooney, Glenn Harrison, Stan Forbes, Betty Forbes, Sandy Forbes, Sandy Tucker, Tucky Tucker, and Frank Linkous. The course instructor was Carol Butler who is a certified CPR/AED instructor with great experience and has taught many classes. The course was intense and lasted 5 1/2 hours. A written final exam was given. Results are not back yet, but I am sure all passed. They will receive their certification cards in a few weeks. I am very proud of the performance of the class. We are all grateful to these members for their time and efforts to make our church better equipped to handle cardiac and other emergencies. -Dr. Jerry Skaggs Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church December 2016

Missions Thank you to Frank and Doris Linkous for their service to CCHASM for the Thanksgiving Meal kits program. They helped put together 3,000 and distribute 2,500 meal kits this Thanksgiving! The 500 kits that were left were given to St. Ann s food pantry. There were 11 coats that were collected by our church for this cold, winter season. During the month of November, Puritan cleaners collects coats for their Coats For Kids program. They take the coats and clean and repair them. They give them to The Salvation Army to give to people in need of warm coat. I decided to take our coats that were collected to Puritan Cleaners this year. Thanks to everyone who donated a coat! The Backpack program is going strong this year. We now have sixteen children that we help with food on the weekends. We also have two more children that are in need. I will keep you updated if we need to help these two the remainder of the school year. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution of food or monetarily to this worthwhile program. Both the schools and children are so appreciative of our church s help. The Crafty Ladies are Christmas shopping for 9 children this year for Enon, Marguerite Christian and Elizabeth Scott Elementary Schools. Thank you, Crafty Ladies for purchasing, wrapping and distributing the gifts to the three schools. These nine children will have a Merry Christmas thanks to our Angels! Merry Christmas! Ann McNinch, Missions Chair Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church December 2016

United Methodist Women The next meeting of the UMW will be December 19 th at 6:30 pm at the Forbes's home, 301 River's Bend Circle, Chester. The meeting will be our annual Christmas party and each attendee is asked to bring a finger food item to share. We will also continue our tradition of a gift exchange and each person should bring a gift of not more than $10.00 in a brown grocery bag - no wrapping or fancy ribbon please, as we continue our efforts to "Go Green". This is a 'members only' event but we do welcome potential members. The Mitten Trees are up! Thank you to all of you who have been decorating the Mitten Trees with hats, scarves, mittens, socks and undies. The trees are looking great and full of all sorts of items needed by our elementary children. The deadline for bringing your items is December 8th and then the "decorations" will be divided among our local elementary schools. The items are given to the teachers who will distribute them as needed to the children in their schools. The teachers are always very appreciative of our gifts as the needs of local children increase. Ann McNinch will report back to you the total number of items you have given on Sunday, December 11 th. Thank you in advance for your generosity. This has been an exciting and productive year for the Bermuda Hundred UMW. We are presently in the planning process for our many 2017 projects and activities and will be sharing our plans with you in January. We look forward to working with all of you as we continue our support of mission projects here in our community and around the world. Thank you for all you do to support the activities of the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Women. We wish you and your family a very safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful new year! See you in church, Doris Morefield, UMW President Members of the UMW and one of the Crafty Men at November 2015 s Craft Show. Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church December 2016

Earn. Save. Give. November 2016 Continued Stewardship Success BHUMC, WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!!! Our goal for 2016 is to cover our full budget and 100% of our responsibility to apportionments, with consistency for the 4 th consecutive year. We have succeeded at that 11 out of 12 Months.92% of target with December yet to go. Your commitment and consistency is amazing and a true blessing we appreciate all of it- THANKS! Let s cross the finish line of 2016 with grand momentum and increased, renewed commitment to supersede our goals and carry it into 2017 for a year of even more sharing and giving of and for God. Please make note and help with the following: Stewardship 1. Commitment for 2017 pray and consider a commitment, any commitment for 2017. Give more, improve consistency, give for the 1 st time, give of your time in a new way, whatever it may be. We have mailed out 2017 commitment cards, they should be in your US Mailbox very soon, if not already, and there are also copies available outside the sanctuary at the church. Please complete the 2017 Commitment Cards and return them in the offering plate in December or drop the at the church office. Consider all God has blessed us with and challenge yourself for more, somehow, in 2017. 2. Beyond in 2016 another great year of giving is almost at its end..but what is next, how can we all go beyond, to reach new heights, challenges and commitments for sharing and giving of our time, talents and gifts? Answer God s call to share for His Kingdom and drive beyond the norm, beyond yesterday, further than the past even if just an inch, a second, a minuscule amount at a time it s all for the greatness of God, let s go beyond together give it a try again in 2017. Reminder WE NEED YOU, if anyone is interested is joining the stewardship committee, please jump in we would love to expand the team in 2017 (see/contact Dave Steinbraker to inquire about becoming part of the Stewardship committee). Thank you to all and in God s Grace, Your stewardship committee, Dave Steinbraker, Dorothy Mooney, Ann McNinch, Charles Woodard and Bill Talley V
