Call to Worship Our hearts are ready, O Lord, our hearts are ready! We will sing and make melody! We will awaken the dawn! We will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, we will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is great above the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Lighting of Advent Candles The debernard Family * Hymn What Child Is This Hymnal #53 Prayer of Confession Merciful God, you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you. We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy. We have not loved you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not obeyed your commands. Have mercy on us, O God, in your loving-kindness. In your great compassion, cleanse us from our sins. Amen. * Profession of Faith Apostles Creed (Traditional) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Offering Beside the Cradle Here I Stand Martin Luther During the offertory, you are invited to offer silent prayers of gratitude. * Song of Thanksgiving Doxology Hymnal #593 Assurance of Pardon Be assured that God is with us even now. Thanks be to God! * Passing the Peace of Christ The peace of Christ is with you. And also with you.

* Prayer of Dedication * Hymn The First Nowell Hymnal #56 Pastoral Prayer & The Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Hymn Sing During this portion of the service, you are invited to share your favorite Christmas carol or hymn. If you feel so moved, please share why you like that particular hymn or carol. * Charge and Benediction * Postlude How Great My Joy Hugh Jungst
