Reaching Individuals and Families of the Concho Valley with the Transforming Love of Jesus Christ! A G N U S D E I April 2014 Brothers and sisters in Christ, While it was still dark John leaves us wondering, hanging on for what comes next. To be sure we know the rest of the story verse 16 says, Jesus said to her, Mary! She turned and said to Him, Rabbi! while it For so many, many whom we know and love, and millions who are outside our range of influence, it s still dark. They have not met Jesus. I take heart from this account of the Lord Jesus resurrection for several reasons. Read John 20:1-18. Then read on P.O. Box 61698 San Angelo, Texas 76901-1698 (325) 949-6260 www.anglicanchurchofthegoodshepherd.com Reaching Individuals and Families of the Concho Valley with the Transforming Love of Jesus Christ! Beauregard San Angelo, Texas 76904 (325) 949-6260 www.anglicanchurchofthegoodshepherd.com Send articles, announcements and feed back to secretary.acgs@suddenlinkmail.com First, it acknowledges the human condition. Human life without the Light of the World is indeed dark, full of wondering, fear, doubt, waiting and wanting some assurance that this is not all there is, that we are loved, accepted, and forgiven totally and eternally. That those we love have not simply died. You and I know folks who are still in the dark. Second, Mary s reaction is so typical. When we first come to realize the astonishing claim that Jesus is risen bodily from the grave, we quickly come up with explanations of what must really have happened. We can t comprehend the incomprehensible. Third, it proclaims the truth that Jesus approaches us while it is still dark. He comes to us. He reveals Himself to us. Fourth, we can know the Lord Jesus, personally, up close, and grow in our recognition and understanding of His Resurrection. Jesus calls Mary! by name. Fifth, we receive the command to go and tell others also, but they have to make the run for the empty tomb themselves. We are not responsible for the results of their search for truth, for Jesus, dead or alive. We are only responsible for sharing what we know, I have seen the Lord! This Holy Week and Easter, who is close enough to you to invite them to make the run to the empty tomb with you. We pray for those out of our range of influence. But it is our responsibility to share what we know with those close at hand. You don t have to canvass your neighborhood, or invite everyone you work with. But ask the Lord Jesus to identify one person in your life who He is already approaching while it is still dark for them. Ask Him to give you an opportunity to share with them what you know about Jesus. Then invite them to come and see. Sharing Jesus with others, Stan Burdock Pastor
