Prayer Line: Jo Kusz 651-771-7438 The Ascension of the Lord From the Deacon I would like to impart to you a meditation taken from the book titled, Divine Intimacy by Father Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D., Tan Books and Publishers, Inc., 1996. Meditation: The central idea in the liturgy today is the raising of our hearts toward heaven, so that we may begin to dwell in the spirit where Jesus has gone before us. Christ s Ascension, says St. Leo, is our own ascension; our body has the hope of one day being where its glorious Head has preceded it (Roman Breviary). In fact, Our Lord had already said in His discourse after the Last Supper, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I shall go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself; that where I am, you also may be (Jn 14,2.3). The Ascension is, then, a feast of joyful hope, a sweet foretaste of heaven. By going before us, Jesus our Head has given us the right to follow Him there some day; we can even say with St. Leo, In the person of Christ, we have penetrated the heights of heaven (Roman Breviary). As in Christ Crucified we die to sin, as in the risen Christ we rise to the life of grace, so too, we are raised up to heaven in the Ascension of Christ. This vital participation in Christ s mysteries is the essential consequence of our incorporation in Him. He is our Head; we, as members, are totally dependent upon Him and intimately bound to His destiny. God, who is rich in mercy, says St. Paul, for His exceeding charity wherewith He loved us... hath quickened us together in Christ... and hath raised us up and hath made us sit together in the heavenly places through Christ Jesus (Eph 2,4-6). Our right to heaven has been given us, our place is ready; it is for us to live in such a way that we may occupy it some day. Meanwhile, we must actualize the beautiful prayer which the liturgy puts on our lips: Grant, O almighty God, that we, too, may dwell in spirit in the heavenly mansions (Collect). Where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also (Mt 6,21), Jesus said one day. If Jesus is really our treasure, our heart cannot be anywhere but near Him in heaven. This is the great hope of the Christian soul, so beautifully expressed in the hymn for Vespers: O Jesus, be the hope of our hearts, our joy in sorrow, the sweet fruit of our life (Roman Breviary). For your prayerful contemplation: Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple blessing God (Luke 24:50-53, The Navarre Bible). Our Lady of Combermere, pray for us. - Deacon Michael From Your Pastor Because I have been chosen as one of the delegates from the North American Region to participate in the CFIC General Chapter, I will be in Rome from May 6 26. Arrangements are made to cover the daily and weekend Masses and other sacramental needs. Please contact the parish office if you are in need of any pastoral care. I request your prayers for CFIC and its missions during these days, as I will be praying for you all. H.E.O. Thank you for your generosity! May God bless you!

FFF: Family-centered Faith Formation The children in our Faith Formation Program crowned Mary at the 10:30 am Mass last Sunday, and the school children did so at their school Mass this past Friday. Thus she is honored by our children as Queen of Heaven and Earth. When sickness and/or other problems come our way, take them to the QUEEN! She will be there to help. May she keep those little children safe and saintly who honored her with a lovely crown, and may she bless all women this Mother s Day. - S. Kathy The Two Feet of Social Concerns Justice: As we celebrate Mother s Day this weekend, our thoughts go to Julia Ward Howe who established the first Mother s Day. She was a social and political activist who asked that mothers throughout the land meet and discuss how to achieve and promote world peace. She is the author of the song, Battle Hymn of the Republic. Charity: Next weekend is our annual Mail Carriers Food Drive. We will benefit from that Drive as the carriers make certain those living in poverty will be fed. Thus they will bring 8 mail trucks with bags of food they collected from the people on their routes. We will need volunteers to help unload the items. Meet us between the church and the school on May 14 th at 12 noon. Many willing hands will enable us to finish that MERCY project in a very short time. Blessings to all who gave donations this past week clothing, shoes, quarters for laundry, food items, soaps, etc., AND to all who are using their PASTORAL EMERGENCY FUND envelope to contribute to that fund. The funds are used to purchase food and gift cards, bus passes, and even to pay for some rent and utilities when they are needed to prevent eviction. We grow into goodness by being good to others. June a Month Dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Open Your Home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Traditionally, June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Friday following Corpus Christi Sunday. What better time to enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus as King of yourself, your home, and your family? Jesus revealed his Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, to whom he appeared at her convent in Paray-le-Monial, France, from 1673 to 1675. In one of the 12 promises Jesus made to her, he said: I will bless every place where an image of my Sacred Heart will be exposed and honored. In 1907, Father Mateo Crawley-Boevey of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary was inspired to establish the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to win homes and the world for Christ. Pope St. Pius X himself commissioned the enthronement, saying: To save the family is to save society. The work you are undertaking is a work of social salvation. As a continuation and addition to the house blessings we have done last year, Fr. Benny will be available to do the Enthronement and dedication of your house to the Sacred Heart in the month of June. Please wait for further announcements. (To be continued in the next bulletin.) Pastoral Care PASTORAL VISITS: Because of the Right to Privacy laws, Presentation Church is not notified of parishioners who are in the hospital, homebound, or have entered a health care facility. We must hear from you, a family member, or a friend if you wish to be visited by our pastor or pastoral minister. Call our Parish Office, and our receptionist will pass on the information. Please Note Re: May 8 Divine Mercy Chaplet There will be no Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 8, due to the annual Rosary Procession from the State Capitol to the Cathedral. Stewardship Jesus ascended into heaven, blessing His disciples and promising that they would soon receive the power of the Holy Spirit. We who have received that promised gift of the Spirit are now empowered to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth to use our time and talents to spread the good news of salvation. Men s Club All men of the parish are invited to a meeting on Thursday, May 12, at 6:30 pm in Kenney Hall. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the evening. GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS meets Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center lower level. For more information, please call Colleen at 651-295-9853.

The children plan the course with the arrows moving North, South, East, and West. They then "code" a sequence of moves into the Bee-Bot using the arrow keys on its back. They then press GO and watch the Bee-Bot navigate its way across the course they have plotted. The Bee-Bot has been an amazing technology teaching tool added to our program. New Benefactors - Ms. Michelle H. Thanks to the family of Dennis M. Schneider, who made a generous gift to the Legacy Foundation in his memory. Their gift will provide an ongoing source of support for the mission of this parish and will be a lasting legacy of their commitment to that mission. Corpus Christi Procession Sunday, May 29 As an expression of our love and devotion to the Holy Eucharist, we will have a Eucharistic procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, May 29th, after the 10:30 am Mass. With prayer and song, we will process through the Parish Campus and stop at an altar in the lower parking lot for a moment of adoration and Divine Mercy Chaplet before returning to the church for the Benediction. Join us in the singing, exposition, and witness of our faith after the 10:30 am Mass! Those who do not attend the 10:30 am Mass can join the procession at the front doors of the church. For those who cannot do the walk around the campus, you are invited to pray inside the church during the outdoor procession. All are welcome!
