aston District Newsletter V I C T O R I S D O N T H A P P N B Y A C C I D N T Newsletter Date: November 2, 2017 House Rules Joshua 24:15 But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. During a discussion with my two younger grandchildren in which I was to be the caregiver for the weekend, they needed for me to know the House Rules. The Five Year Old Rule 1: Be Kind Rule 2: No Fighting Rule 3: Be Respectful Rule 4: Be Loving The Three Year Old Rule 1: Give Lots of Hugs Final Rule: verybody be Happy When the journey may be challenging, it s necessary to remember the House Rules. Serving our Lord, calls for us to live out the fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and selfcontrol. Against such things there is no law. The mouths of youth bring forth wisdom. Yes, they remind me that we are to eat at the table, to share, to say you are sorry, that Jesus Loves Me, that Sunday is the day we go to church. Their hugs and House Rules are reflective of the grace of God. The grace that is ever present. The grace that abounds when there is violence, death, heartache, death, grief, joy and pain. The House Rules! God Rules. Our Creator, is the head of the house, crafts the rules, forgives those who stray from the rules and has the compass of the Holy Spirit to guide us back to the House. This is Thankful Thursday, so this is a note of encouragement to live by the House Rules. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. (Psalm 100:2) We enter the Lord s House on Sunday to worship and every single day we go into the world to serve the Lord living the House Rules. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. (Mark 12:30) Thought for the day: Give a Hug, be happy and live out the House Rules. Amen Pastor B Bishop Johnson will be praying for the aston District the week of Nov. 5-11. Joys and concerns can be shared with Bishop Johnson at pjohnson@epaumc.org.
