You ll be able to find email addresses on the web site @ clemmaus.org for all board members. Rick Hamill Lay Director for 2019 laydirector@clemmaus.org (423) 421-0885 Chattanooga Emmaus P. O. Box 21024 Chattanooga, TN 37424 We have a Men s walk coming up in March and a Women s walk in April. Please be in prayer for the Pilgrims. We will need applications as soon as possible in order to fill the walks. The dates will be in the newsletter and on the web site. Thanks to all of you for the way you support our community. May God truly bless in all things this coming year. DeColores, Rick Hamill

SPONSORSHIP January already and were just recovering from the Glorious Holidays. Let me bring in the 2019 New Year by saying; Thank You for sharing the Emmaus experience with others and reaching out when it may not have been too comfortable. Many of you have sponsored many others over the years and I know the community is far better off because you did. It is because of You that our community lives on and reaches others. The March 2019 Men s walk will be upon us before you know it! I hope you have approached someone to sponsor or will be asking someone soon. How awesome it was for the last men s walk to have more than 24 pilgrims leading up to the walk weekend. Wouldn t it be great if having to place pilgrims on a waiting list became the normal for our community once again! I search for ideas, thoughts and suggestions on how our community can better fill the pilgrim slots through sponsorship. I hope you would share with me any ideas or suggestions you may have concerning sponsorship. I try to be available and I hope you already know how passionate I am that our community grow and strengthen. Together with prayer, thoughtful consideration and Christ as the head of our community, we too can be a part of the glorious discoveries others will make when we share our saviors love with them. DeColores Keith Sands Sponsorship is the foundation of our community Newly Published Children s Books by One of Our Very Own Several years ago, Jean Davis (Wife of Mark Davis and Lay Director of Women s Walk #49 Walk 34, Table of Ruth) heard a sermon entitled, The Sense God Gave a Goose. She thought this was a wonderful premise from which children could learn valuable behavior and began to write. Never before has it been so important for a generation of children to know the importance and value of caring for those around us, of forgiving those who have wronged us, and of belonging to a community. These are the God-given characteristics that geese were given. Jean takes these attributes, along with creative license that has the geese praying with and for each other, to bring to life the fun adventures of these precious geese while they learn valuable lessons. The Sense God Gave A Goose series, is currently two books (a third will join them very soon) that seek to convey God-given values that we all need to experience and share. These books focus on 1) Caring for those around us (Allie Learns about Caring) 2) Belonging to a group and that it has responsibilities and joys (Eli Learns It Is Good to Belong) 3) (Coming soon) Forgiving those who have done something to us as well as understanding that we all can have a second chance (Sam Learns about Forgiveness) Allie Learns About Caring and Eli Learns It Is Good to Belong are available on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.

EXCITING CHRYSALIS AND JOURNEY NEWS! It is with excitement, and with great anticipation to see what God has planned for our youth in 2019, that the Board is announcing the scheduling of the Chrysalis / Journey (formerly Crossroads) weekend for November 7 10, 2019. This will be a weekend for young adults for ages 15 to 18 for Chrysalis and ages 19 to 24 for Journey who are not married or parents of young children. While the weekend will be co-ed with interaction at meal times and during clergy talks in the chapel, the young men and their conference room team will be housed at Sunset Lodge and the young women and their conference room team will be housed in one of the cabins behind the dining hall. The young men (Chrysalis and Journey ages) and their conference room team will be cloistered and will hear their speakers and interact with their individual tables at Sunset. The individual table groups will be assigned by age so that the Chrysalis participants will be interacting with other Chrysalis age participants while the Journey participants will be interacting with other Journey age participants. The young women (Chrysalis and Journey) and their conference room team will be cloistered and will hear their speakers and interact with their individual tables in the conference room next to the dining hall. Again, the individual table groups will be assigned by age so that the Chrysalis participants will be interacting with other Chrysalis age participants while the Journey participants will be interacting with other Journey age participants. Please pray about the young person you wish to sponsor and please do not allow the weekend fees be a deterrent to sponsoring someone for the weekend. If there is a need for financial assistance, you may contact the Chrysalis Registrar regarding scholarship applications at chrysalisregistrar@clemmaus.org. Anyone with a desire to be a team member for this weekend, please advise Team Selection at teamselection@clemmaus.org. Be aware that, as servants of God in bringing Christ s love to our young people, the Board will be responsible for performing background checks on all who participate in the weekend. Please pray for our youth and mark this date on your calendars. Please get those applications in as early as possible so that we may good stewards of God s resources. Send-Off: As the new Pilgrims and Conference Room team leave the Chapel, we are to SING them out with DeColores song. Candlelight: Please be sure to sign the Candlelight Sign-In sheets as you come in on Saturday night. When the community serenades Pilgrims, the room empties from the back first. Kitchen: NEW COMMUNITY MEMBERS HELP Sign in for helping in the Kitchen is needed as well. It is located at the service counter nearest the dining room where silverware is sitting. NOTE "Team Selection uses all SIGN-IN sheets during their process. These help to be recognized for service to an upcoming team. Susan Crocker Chrysalis/Journey Registrar
