THE Briarwood Weekly June 29, 2018 Father, as we enjoy this holiday of independence we lift up our loved ones in the military to You in prayer. Help us to remember the daily sacrifices that they and their families make to ensure our freedoms. May they remember to cast their cares and burdens upon You. Instead of being anxious, remind them to pray about everything. Grant them peace that surpasses all understanding and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen. Thank you to those who have served, or are serving our country. Briarwood members killed in the line of duty: Lance Corporal Thomas E. Rivers, Jr., USMC Corporal Stephen M. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Grace and peace. If there was ever a time that we as Christians in particular, and the evangelical church in general, should pause and give thanks to the Lord for what He has done in this nation as well as examine and learn what the Lord has providentially accomplished in and through America, that time is now. This Sunday evening, July 1 at 6:00 p.m., we are extraordinarily blessed to have Guy Penrod and his band who will fill the Worship Center with praise and worship and a patriotic musical montage that will be an extraordinary blessing. Each year this is a wonderful service, albeit a bit different this year as I will be giving a ten-minute presentation (before Guy s abbreviated concert) that I will keep a surprise for now! Please invite and bring along any and all who have served our country in the Armed Forces as we honor our veterans and the era in which they served. As many of you know, this is a highlight in the life of Briarwood and a wonderful outreach event. But most of all, it is a time to praise God for His providential blessings to our nation and to commit ourselves individually and corporately as a congregation to a renewal of heart for a Gospel awakening throughout our land. I look forward to being there with you.
