August 6, 2017 Vision: Transform the Heart... Transform the Home... Transform the World 5455 Market Avenue North, Canton, Ohio 44714 330.966.2800 info@firstfriends.org FirstFriends.org Summer Service Times 8:30 am & 10:00 am

Welcome to Worship at First Friends! Lead Pastor, Stan Hinshaw The Book of Acts - The Age of the Spirit and the Church" Prayer at the Altar Here at First Friends God works through prayer. We offer different opportunities for prayer at our altar each Sunday. During our musical worship, if you would like to come and pray at the altar in private, we invite you to come to the left side by our cross. If you would like one of our Prayer Team to pray with you, please come to the opposite side (right) of the altar. We will also continue to offer prayer at the end of each service. Before Jesus ascended into the heavens he told his disciples to wait for his Holy Spirit to come and bring power into their lives. It was only in the Spirit s power that they would be his witnesses from Jerusalem into all the world. It was Jesus Holy Spirit working in them that would unite them and birth what we call the Church... God s people gathering and going on God s mission. This summer we will be studying the Book of Acts and praying for God to unite and empower us in new and fresh ways to be God s people gathering and going on his mission! Read and P.R.A.Y. Scripture from the Book of Acts reading plan each week to prepare yourself for what God will do in us together as the Church! Summer Reading Plan for P.R.A.Y. Scripture: August 6 - Acts 6 & 7 August 13 - Acts 8:1-25 August 20 - Acts 8:26-40 August 27 - Acts 9:1-31 September 3 - Acts 10 & 11 Pastor Stan Hinshaw, Lead Pastor Thank You for Considering Others in Worship Please silence your cell phones during the worship service. Also, if your child becomes restless and loud, the service can be heard in the hall, the women's restroom nursing room, or you can take your child to one of our excellent church nurseries. REACHING NEIGHBORS & NATIONS News from friends in Turkey H and W are enjoying being more involved in the local church community in Antalya. They attend Antalya Incil Kilisesi that meets at St. Paul's Cultural Center in the Old City section of Antalya. H serves on the Board for St. Paul's and is often called on to teach and preach for the Turkish fellowship that meets there. For the last several years W has been invited to speak at a women's conference at St. Paul's that takes place the weekend before International Women's Day each year. These are among the many activities they are honored to be part of as partners with the local fellowships in Antalya. Please join them in prayer that the work in Turkey would continue unhindered in the wake of increased fear and skepticism that the present political regime fosters. Particularly pray for the release of American pastor, Andrew Brunson, who continues to be held in a Turkish prison on charges of collusion with terrorist organizations. He has been held since October 7, 2016. Even the U.S president was unable to get his release. Pray for many others who have been arrested since the coup attempt last summer.
