I m a Past from South Kingstown Lodge 1899. This is the beginning of a new Elk year. Let us make this a great year. We have a good core group of active members, but the Lodge needs you. Ask yourself why did you become an Elk? What are the Elks about? Not sure, come on down to the Lodge a find out. We have over 600 members; are you active? When was the last time you came to the Lodge or a function? I challenge each and every one of you if you are not active to get active. We are neither a bar nor a range, we are Elks who just happen to have a bar and range. We need all members active so we can improve the facilities, help our Veterans, help the children and the community. For those of you who are active thank you. If you are not active take up my challenge. I would like to thank last year s suite of officers. I know each of them dedicated themselves to making this Lodge stronger than the year before, and I know they succeeded. Lastly, you may notice there are two open positions available for officers next year, yet it has come to my attention two members will be nominated at our next Lodge meeting. Keep in mind, as these positions are truly vacant, any member in good standing can still be nominated if so desired. Thank you. Elk of the Month Carmen Zocco Carmen recently took it upon himself to support the lodge by personally purchasing and installing energy efficient light bulbs. Please park in the place of honor for the month! Fraternally, Mon. It is scheduled for September 15, 2014, which is only 6 short months away. Monthly meetings will begin on April 16th at the Lodge at approximately 6:30PM. In Tom s absence (our fearless leader is braving the winter in Florida), I d like to ask everyone and anyone interested in helping to attend this meeting. I would like to begin getting sub-committee s together, and the leader of those sub-committees. Initially our focus will be pounding the pavement for hole sponsors, price settings, etc. Thomas Herzog Golf Chairman We now have an ATM on the premises!
