Biblical Puzzles and Activities for Children (Ages 7-12) Rosh Chodesh: Nisan The Case of the Two Donkeys in the road and said, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the LORD! The disciples still didn t understand. Why the donkey? Why two donkeys? This sounds like a mystery for the disciple detectives. Clue Number One: Let s examine the witnesses. Read Luke 19:28-37. How did the disciples get the donkey? It was Passover time. The Master and his disciples had travelled on foot all the way from the Galilee to the holy city of Jerusalem. As they were about to come down from the Mount of Olives, the Master decided he didn t want to walk any further. He told the disciples to go find him a donkey to ride on. The disciples were curious. Why did the Master need a donkey to ride on? He had already walked for many days to get to Jerusalem. Now, when Jerusalem was only a short walk away, only about an hour more, he decided he wanted a donkey. And not just one donkey. He wanted two donkeys! How can a person ride on two donkeys? The disciples found the donkeys, and brought them back to the Master. The donkeys did not have saddles, so the disciples laid their cloaks on the donkeys backs. Yeshua climbed onto one of the donkeys and sat down on the cloaks. Then he began to ride down the hill and toward the city of Jerusalem. As he did, crowds of Passover pilgrims saw him coming. They knew he was the Messiah. They began to lay their coats and palm branches Clue Number Two: The disciples did not understand why Yeshua wanted to ride on a donkey, but later, they did understand. Read John 12:12-16. When did they understand? Clue Number Three: Read John 12:16 again. What was the thing written about Yeshua that the disciples understood later? How did the prophet say that Zion s king would come? Look inside Color This Page and submit it To www.ffoz.org/eroshupload We ll Choose 3 WinneRs each MonTh and post TheM on our Web site. Rosh Chodesh: Nisan Disciple Detectives: The Case of the Two Donkeys Clue Number Four: We better go check that prophecy about the donkey. Read Zechariah 9:9. Who is the king in the prophecy, and what is he riding on? Clue Number Five: Let s examine another of the witnesses. Read Matthew 21:1-9. How many donkeys did the disciples bring to Yeshua? Clue Number Six: Why two donkeys? Read the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 again, but more carefully this time. How many donkeys are there in the prophecy? Solve the Mystery: Why did Yeshua ride on a donkey when he came to Jerusalem? Why did he need two donkeys? Anagrams Can you unscramble these words? The letters are all mixed up. Uneven Beard Deal Hint: Two Words. An English name for Matzah. Upset Angel Hint: Two Words. God smote Egypt with it. Send us your jokes and riddles! Hey Torah Kids, we need your jokes for the monthly erosh. Why not take a few minutes to write down some of your favorite jokes? Send them to us at www.ffoz.org/eroshupload, and we ll print them here next month with your name. Nisan Jokes and Riddles Why did the Israelites cross the sea? Answer: To get to the other side. Why did the Egyptians cross the sea? Answer: They didn t. They only made it to the middle. What is the difference between an Egyptian boat and an Egyptian chariot? Answer: Egyptian chariots don t float. Why didn t Pharaoh return to his throne after the Israelites escaped? Answer: He knew he was all washed up. Why didn t the chicken cross the sea? Answer: He was chicken. What did the sea do when the Israelites crossed? Answer: Nothing much. It just waved. Why was the sea exhausted after the Israelites crossed? Answer: It had been out of its bed all night long. Atheist: Crossing the Reed Sea actually wasn t a miracle. There are parts of the Reed Sea that are only a few inches deep. A strong wind would naturally drive the water back. It was not a miracle at all. Believer: That s an even bigger miracle than I thought! That means God drowned the Egyptian army in only a few inches of water! request additional copies. This document is a complimentary study resource for myffoz members and their families.
