Psalm 116 Rev. William Brown Pastor Rev. Andrew Ginter Parochial Vicar The parish vision is, simply put, to get us all into heaven. Our Mission mission Statement is to build We, a community the faith in community which we of can St. experience Hilary, brought the goodness together of by Christ, the Lord respond at work to in the our universal midst and call share to some holiness of that by limitless living joy in the awaiting service us of in the God s Gospel. kingdom.

From Your Parish Pastoral Council The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a consultative body whose purpose is to assist Father Brown in carrying out the parish s vision, articulated on the cover page of the bulletin. Another role of the PPC is to act as a sounding board for the congregation at large. In our most recent meeting we discussed: The RCIA ministry s role in a faith journey, ways for the entire Parish to help evangelize, engage, and welcome candidates into our community, as well as to provide opportunities for new Catholics to continue putting their faith into action. The preparation of an Advent Parish Retreat here with Sr. Patricia Bruno, OP and Fr. Jude Siciliano, OP. Update on our Hearing Devices, their distribution at Mass, feedback on clear communication, and the posting of a sign at the Church s entrance to encourage use. Approval of a new Vision Statement that will appear in the Bulletin. Introduction of a new electronic tool, Flocknote, that will expand our abilities to communicate within our Parish as well as to provide the means to offer the Word on Fire library series. We look forward to continuing to receive your questions and suggestions. Please contact the PPC members through our group email below, or you may also leave a message at (415) 891-7413 and we will be very happy to return your call. The Body of Christ Has Many Members And we need to stay in touch with each other to do his work! Sunday, June 3, 2018 Dear friends in Christ, On this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, I have some very good news to share with you from the members of your Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). Namely, the group has worked on finding an even better way for your pastor, and your ministry leaders, to let you know about important events, but also to share with you wonderful videos and presentations from Bishop Robert Barron and Word On Fire at no cost to you thanks to a generous parishioner who has financed this new endeavor so that the entire parish might take advantage of this great opportunity. In recent years, many of you attended sessions in Tarantino Hall and in Church when we used Word On Fire materials but now you may access them for free on your home computer, or on your ipad in bed while sipping a cup of tea, or even on your cell phone! If you register for my new method of contacting you via email or text message, you will not only be able to get news of import for the parish (e.g., an upcoming event; the death of a parishioner; the schedule for Holy Week), but you will also be able to choose Word On Fire videos you can watch at your leisure covering a wide variety of topics: the Catholicism series; mini-courses on the Eucharist, or heroes of the faith; videos on the priesthood, or the mystery of God. For individuals, but also for faith sharing groups, this is a terrific way to gain access to fascinating materials at your own pace and in your own home, which you can then discuss as a group, or talk about with your family, or use for your own spiritual growth. Our new way of staying in touch with you is called Flocknote a modern communication tool used by thousands of parishes across the country employing technology that helps us connect to and grow our community (our flock) in a productive, cost-efficient way. Flocknote also allows all our parish members complete access to Bishop Barron s popular Word on Fire Engage. These digital videos are accessed online and include his complete DVD library, and encompass mini-courses such as Catholicism 101. Here are some of the reasons why we are moving to Flocknote: Simple and easy to use: go to www.sthilary.org and register under the little Flocknote lamb widget! Flexibility to use either email and/or texts to communicate with you. Feedback from our parishioners in one easy place we can be more responsive to your needs. Great tool for our Ministry Leaders to aid them in executing their goals. Analytical tools that prevent us from sending out too many unnecessary communications. Access to Word on Fire materials at no cost to you. Helps us grow our community and fulfill our mission. The Parish Pastoral Council team helped me set up the registration widget on page one of our parish website this past Tuesday, so you can sign up right now by going to www.sthilary.org where the little Flocknote lamb will lead you to those spaces for you to enter your name, email address, and cell phone number (if you have one). Instead of sending out emails from my personal email account (StanfordAlumni.Org) and from Constant Contact, I will be relying solely on Flocknote. I am very grateful to the PPC, and the donor who is funding this new method. If you need help registering for Flocknote, Diana can help you at the rectory. I hope this new tool will enable us to stay in touch with all the members of our community, while also offering you access to lovely materials from Bishop Barron and Word On Fire! Father Brown

Second Collection next weekend June 9-10 St. Hilary Music Fund Bethlehem Artworks June 2-3 in Tarantino Hall after all Masses https://bethlehemartworks.com/ Thank you so much for your Generosity! Volunteers Needed for our Sunday Hospitality, every Sunday after the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses. Please email Diana at Dianar@sthilary.org or give her a call at 415-937-5524 if you are interested. School families will receive service hours for this important ministry. As you may know, the Christian population in the Holy Land has dropped dramatically in the last ten years, from 65% to under 2%. The few Christians left rely entirely on the sale of their hand-carved olivewood religious figures for their livelihood. With the ever increasing turmoil in the Middle East, fewer and fewer people are making pilgrimages and visits to the Holy Land, and hence, fewer and fewer opportunities are presented to market these olivewood carvings. Your advocacy of our mission enables our Christian brothers and sisters to remain in their homeland and continue the Christian presence. Our organization has provided assistance to over 100 poor families in the Holy Land for over 15 years. Thanks to your support and hospitality, we are able to offer over 100 unique religious items to foster devotion. The 15 years we have spent working with the Catholic Community of California has made a major impact on the lives of those who continue to believe in our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am confident that with your permission, we will make the biggest difference thus far in the lives of our brothers and sisters in the holy cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. ~ Mr. Issa Qumseya https://www.facebook.com/bethlehem.artworks/
