SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT PRAYER FOR THE ADVENT WREATH O Almighty God, gracious provider and giver of life, we anxiously await the celebration of your birth. Like the people of long ago, our ancestors in faith, we, too, are in need of light, in need of direction, in need of your Word, to show us the way. Our busy lives and the consumerism that surrounds us make it difficult to recognize your kingdom and to hear your voice. Help us Lord, to focus on you. We pray that you hear our prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen. ~ from The Essential Advent and Christmas Handbook May Christ s entrance into our world bring great joy and love into your home. May your Christmas be filled with His love and may he continue to draw you ever deeper into his most Sacred Heart. Merry Christmas! Fr. McGuire, Fr. Nguyen, Dcn. Barelli, Dcn. Dippre Sr. Leonor, Sr. Edith, Debbie, Rick Richard, Raquel, and Kent

OZANAM MANOR Ozanam Manor is extremely grateful to have been chosen as the recipient of St. Daniel the Prophet s Christmas Giving Tree this year. Ozanam Manor is named after Blessed Frederic Ozanam, founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Ozanam Manor is a transitional, or bridge housing facility that is operated by the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Arizona. In many cases residents come to Ozanam Manor after literally living on the streets and alleys of the Phoenix area. The facility serves both men and women who are age 50 or older, or 18 and older with mental, or physical disabilities. Male and female residents live in separate quarters and are offered free emergency dorm style housing with a bed, bedside table and footlocker as well as the use of showers and rest rooms. Meals are offered free of charge in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where the dignity of each individual is respected. Since the goal of facility is to transition residents into private permanent housing, Case Managers and Mentors assist them with job searches, counseling, resume writing and countless other services as they journey towards self-sufficiency and a life with dignity. The Giving Tree is located in the narthex. The tree is decorated with hand written ornaments of the items that are wanted at Oaznam Manor. Please wrap your gifts but be sure to tape the ornament securely to the top of the gift. Wrap gifts separately if you are donating a combination of ornaments. We ask that you make every effort to turn in your gifts no later than noon on Thursday, December 20th. There will be no pick ups after that date. It is important that they make sure what is donated and that all their residents will have a gift or two. If you are unable to shop but would still like to donate to this agency, please write your checks to Ozanam Manor and turn your check into the parish office. Thank you for you generosity. Merry Christmas! Our Lady s Sodality invites parish members to display your Nativity sets on the weekend of January 5 and 6, 2019. As you will recall, St. Francis of Assisi was the inspiration behind the original Nativity sets in 1223. But did you also know that Padre Pio's favorite day of the year was the feast of Christmas? Every year at Midnight Mass Padre Pio lovingly carried a statue of the Infant Jesus to the Nativity scene, inspired with such great feelings of joy and tenderness that he was often moved to tears. Maybe you feel that way about your Nativity set and would like to share that feeling with our parish. Before you put it away for the year, please bring your Nativity sets to the parish hall after 3pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Viewing will begin after the 4pm mass on Saturday until 5:30pm. Viewing on Sunday, January 6, 2019, will be from 7am to 12pm. You may pick up your Nativity sets by noon on Sunday, January 6th.
