Let It Be Toled Prescott AZ Chapter An affiliated chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters Volume 20, Issue 6 JUNE 2018 Those of you that are mother's, I hope you had a wonderful mother's day. I was so glad to hear no one was caught in the PV fire. On mother's day, I was flying back from Daytona, coming back from the SDP convention. It was an enjoyable time, as well as a learning experience. So much is happening within our society. We can all be an Ambassador of SDP. When we bring a new person into SDP we can earn $10 on Visa Card. More information will be coming. SDP will be featured on a daytime morning show this summer as well as on Bizz TV. The 2019 convention will be in Wichita, Kansas. Last but not least, there were 92 certification pieces submitted, fifteen received certification. Mine was not one of them but I learned a lot. I will submit again. See you in July, I will not be at the June meeting due to my granddaughter having her graduation party. Your President, Pat Kaminsky

SEMINAR NEWS I will have all surfaces and prep instructions at our June meeting. The dates are Saturday 9-1 and Sunday 9-2 from 9:30am till 4pm, doors open at 9am. I will bring the teachers finished pieces to the meeting so you can see them up close. I will need to have final count of the surfaces needed for each piece by our July meeting so I can get them in time for the August meeting for everyone to prep. I am once again really excited about our upcoming seminar and feel this will be a great one. The teacher will be using a camera set up so everyone will be able to see nicely. Thanks, Bev Morn. LIBT will be hosting a seminar with Susie Lockwood on Saturday and Sunday, September 1 & 2, 2018 9:30 am 4:00 pm at Mountain Artists Guild This year our seminar will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 1st and 2nd from 9:30 to 4pm. Cost for each day will be $30.00 to LIBT and packet fee of $4.00. The Board has decided to try having a teacher come who is proficient at teaching all of the various artists designs. Her name is Susie Lockwood from San Jose, CA. Here is her biography: Susie Lockwood has been teaching for over 35 years. She started taking classes in the 70 s in oils then moved on to acrylics when they came out. Barbara Nielsen was one of her first teachers. She has a home studio and has taught for her chapter as well as many local chapters in CA as well as a couple out of state. She has taught in the local adult ed. programs. Susie enjoys all styles of decorative painting. She has designed, been published and taught at National. Susie and her husband, Paul, own and operate Creative Woodworks. They make wood products for decorative painters. She also coordinates and hosts a Zhostovo seminar every year with Misha Lebedev, a Russian Floral Zhostovo painter. On Saturday we have chosen for her to teach a Jamie Mills-Price design on a barrel stave. It is one in a series of seasonal designs and the other side can be painted on with another

in the series. The cost for the wood will be $5.00 and as stated before pattern fee of $4.00. There will be prep work and this will be in Deco/Art Americana colors. On Sun. we have chosen a Rosemary West design on a tray. This piece will be ordered from Bear With Us and it has little ball feet so it can set on a counter or hang on a wall. The cost for this piece is $7.50. I am going to check with them to see if we can arrange a chapter discount as we will have to pay shipping. There will be no prep work for this piece, it will all be done in class. (Except to seal your wood.) You will need to bring a roller and Lamp Black to base coat. We will be using Jo Sonja colors for the piece and the teacher will bring them. There is a $2.00 pallet fee for these. We should finish both pieces each day. We will do a potluck of salads, cold meat and cheeses, and rolls. I will do the sign-ups for this starting in July. Chapter provides coffee and water. Thank You, Bev Saturday Sunday
