Northwest Georgia Walk to Emmaus May 2017 Northwest Georgia Walk to Emmaus Community: Northwest Georgia Walk to Emmaus - For the Development of Christian Leaders. www.nwgwte.com We are indeed a blessed community. Over the years we have had many loyal servants come through and serve and they have served in many different roles and allowed themselves to be open to the moving of the Holy Spirit. Your board would like to personally thank Rev. Sonny Moon and his beautiful bride Sharon Moon, for serving Northwest Georgia with true servants hearts. Thank you for blessing us. You will both be missed as God takes you on another journey that moves you to not only another church family but closer to your own family. I am certain that God will use both of you in another community and like us they will be blessed. As I was sitting reading my Bible one day I read about Samson and something within the story struck me as interesting. It was something I have probably read 100 times but missed it. If you start reading in Judges 13 you ll will read that an angel man of God appeared to Manoah s wife (Samson s mom). It is interesting that she is referred to as woman. The angel appeared twice the second time was upon the prayer of Manoah and his wife. They asked and God answered! How often do we ask for something and God answers but we miss it. How many times has God sent an angel when we needed it mostand we missed it. These are the thoughts that kept coming to my mind all day after I read this scripture. We are praying that our community will continue to grow. Praying for those who have been involved over the years will have a desire to come back, serve and sponsor. As a board we want to know what we can do to bring you back and sponsor others. It is my pray often that God would use me to be a vessel for His kingdom. Which is part of the reason why I mde the choice to be a part of Emmaus to do my part to grow leaders for His greater good and glory. As I am praying and driving down the road to a meeting God showed me something that I will never forget. He reminded me that no matter what His angels meet us where we are if we are paying attention we won t miss them. Samson s mom was in the field (praying I imagine) and an angel appeared. I was praying and driving to a meeting and God sent an angel to remind me that He is listening, He hears, and I believe His will be done. The picture below is what I saw and I will always be gratful for the angel He sent. However, I cannot help but wonder how many times have I missed being in His presence. Think about that: take time today to just sit and be still in His pressence. I pray that you will all join us on May 20 th at Powder Springs UMC for the Gathering. We will have a special guest the International Director of Emmaus Greg Engoff will be joining and sharing with us. The board will meet with him prior to the gathering to discuss questions you have asked as well as questions the board has put together as they relate to our positions. Mark your calendars and join us at 6:00 for the grazing and 7:00 for praising. Our board meeting will start at 4:00 and it is an open board meeting meaning all are welcome.

Our Men #57 and Women #60 walks are fast approaching and we need pilgrims to be sponsored. You did a fabulous job of sponsoring for the last set of walks. Let us pray for the Lay Directors, (Gary Henkel and Christine Standridge) team, and the pilgrims that God will place of this set of walks. If you would like to serve on the team there is plenty of room just reach out to them and let them know. If you have questions/concerns/ideas/or just want to chat feel free to contact me at 678-416-9440. DeColores/Fly With Christ Judi Rainey Community Lay Director Thoughts from our Spiritual "Lord, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips." - Psalm 141:3 In this day and age, many of us have protection on things that mean a lot to us. We have home security systems, life-lock on our credit, GPS detectors on our phones and our cars, and many other things that we want to protect. But how often do we protect our mouths? Did you know that out of your mouth comes life and death? The mouth can be used to build up or tear down, encourage or deceive, and to create or destroy. You and I were created by God with access to an internal, explosive power that can construct of destroy. This tool is the dynamite in our dentures... the tool known as the tongue. Your greatest enemy is in your own mouth. So is your greatest friend. Whoever controls your tongues controls your life. Proverbs 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; when he closes his lips, his considered prudent." We need to set a guard over our mouths. We need to watch the things that we post on social media. For we can either bestow blessings or a curse with what comes out of our mouths. Think before your speak... think before you post. Make sure that what comes out of your mouth is exactly what Christ would have you to say. He is counting on us to be the example of Him in the world. Start by watching your mouth. DeColores! Donna T. Applications can be found on our website: www.nwgwte.com and hard copies will be available at upcoming Gatherings. North Georgia Chrysalis As Christians, we are celebrating Holy Week and the events leading up to Easter. Sunday was Palm Sunday and many of us perhaps waved branches at church or had crosses made from palm leaves. These tokens help us remember Jesus as the Prince of Peace entering Jerusalem. The word Hosanna denotes praise and adoration, but another definition is: save, rescue. As this season of Lent comes to a close, let us pray that we continue to understand both meanings of this powerful word - Hosanna. We adore and honor Jesus because of his sacrifice, but we also are aware of our need for rescue. We pray that we continue to instill these traditions for the generations to come. Please consider investing in the youth of your community by sponsoring for the upcoming summer Chrysalis flights. May King's Retreat be filled to capacity with youth who truly praise God and are mindful of the gift of salvation. Girls Flight July 6-9, 2017 Thursday - Sunday Lay Director: Mary Darby medarby@charter.net Boys Flight July 20-23, 2017 Thursday - Sunday Lay Director: Bill Creech william.h.creech@gmail.com If you have a youth that you would like to sponsor on the upcoming weekend, please visit www.ngwte.org to download an application. As a reminder, you can stay up to date on Chrysalis and what is happening! For up to date information please sign up for our texting service. Just text- Chrysalis to 313131. We will keep you informed of all the fun stuff coming down the line!! FLY WITH CHRIST!

Annual King's Retreat Workday As the Spring Season of Walks are coming to a close, the Board of Trustees of the King's Retreat is now preparing for the annual King's Retreat Work Day to spruce up & cleanup the facility. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, June 3rd, to come spend an hour or 2 or maybe all day to lend a hand on some of the tasks listed below. Deep Spring cleaning-all Areas Pushing back the brush on property line Cleaning Chapel-Candlesticks, linens, etc. Repairing & stabilizing bunks NG closet cleanup/straighten up Adding shelves to ends of bunks Replacing mattress covers Revamp/Rearrange the Agape Room Facilities YTD Update: By the time this Loveletter reaches you, King's Retreat's major planned improvement of the year should be completed (weather permitting). The re-paving of the building perimeter driveway project was designed to replace some very worn out asphalt along the candlelight path and outside the Chrysalis room. In addition, there were 3 trenches dug to accommodate drainage away from the building and an electrical conduit for future use to the fire pit area. The dumpster area has been improved as well. Other 2017 improvements include: All sound systems were upgraded in the Conference room, Chapel, Kitchen, and Chrysalis Room. New microphones have been added and cables have been hidden in the ceiling to relieve tripping hazards. A new 55" monitor for displaying announcements during Send Off, team seating information for Candlelight and displaying lyrics for worship songs has been installed in the Chrysalis Room. In addition, the conversion from fluorescent & incandescent lamps to all LEDs throughout the facility has now been completed. In the very near future there is a planned lighting upgrade to the chapel that will enhance the chapel experience for the pilgrims. So... Don't forget to mark those calendars for the June 3rd Annual KR Work Day. We'll be starting @ 8:30 AM and going til? King's Retreat Board of Trustees
