PRELUDE Those who are able are invited to stand. LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION Moment of silence to prepare your hearts for worship SONG OF DEVOTION (hymnal & screen) (please remain seated) #243 Emmanuel LET US WORSHIP GOD TOGETHER CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 96:1-4) Leader: Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. People: Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Leader: Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. People: For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise. INVOCATION Leader: Almighty God, bless us with Your Spirit and encourage our hearts to praise You. Bind the evil one from our lives and protect us from all his schemes. Let our faith grow every day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. SONG OF PRAISE (hymnal & screen) #271 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You CALL TO CONFESSION (Nehemiah 9:1-3) Leader: On the twenty-fourth day of the same month, the Israelites gathered together, fasting and wearing sackcloth and putting dust on their heads. Those of Israelite descent had separated themselves from all foreigners. They stood in their places and confessed their sins and the sins of their ancestors. They stood where they were and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the Lord their God. Let us, like the Israelites, confess our sins to God so that we might worship God in the beauty of His holiness. Please join me in silent prayer. SILENT PRAYER
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Almighty God, we confess we have failed to be Your witnesses in our communities. We hide our faith in fear of being rejected or ridiculed by those around us. Forgive us for keeping Your good news to ourselves. Help us to be like Your angels who carried Your message of salvation to the shepherds. In Jesus name we pray. Amen SONG OF ASSURANCE OF PARDON (insert & Screen) #166 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (maroon hymnal) AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles Creed Unison: I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
