PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.) AUGUST, 2013 5151 Lennon Rd. Office Phone: 810-720-5152 Flint, Michigan 48507 e-mail:trinityunitedpc@yahoo.com August 2013 Newsletter Article web-site: www.trinityunitedpc.org newsletter: trinitynewsletter@yahoo.com By now, most of you should have received a letter from me in regards to our church finances. We are not alone. There are many churches that are feeling the weight of lost income and lost membership. The session has determined that we are going to do all that is within our power to turn things around with God s help and yours. However, in the meantime, we are not going to dwell on it. Included in the letter was also a list of mission activities Trinity United is currently engaged in. There were twenty-two items listed and it answered a question for me? Are we making a difference? YES WE ARE!! The bible teaches us not to dwell on our problems but instead dwell with God and place our time, energy and efforts in praising God s name. It states the following: Psalm 91 NIV 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 34:3 NKJV 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me And let us exalt His name together.

We are making a decision not to worry because God teaches that we should not worry (Matthew 6:31-34). Instead, we will dwell, rest and trust in God. We will seek first the kingdom of God and God promises that ALL things will be added unto us. God is apparently seeking us and our attention. Let us give to the Lord what he desires. We are also quick to magnify a problem and make it the biggest thing in our life. We are a culture that dwells on the negative. Once again, we are making another decision not to magnify (or make big) our circumstances. Instead, we will magnify the Lord because God is bigger than any challenge we encounter. We often lose sight of the fact that the church belongs to Jesus Christ. He is Lord and Savior. God is sovereign and therefore has the power to lift us from our present circumstances. Join us as we commit to reading and praying through the Gospel of John for the month of August. Beginning Monday August 5, we are asking that you commit to reading one chapter a day and spending a few minutes talking with God about Trinity United. I do believe God is drawing us nearer to him and each other. The God we serve is good all the time and all the time, God is good! Let us exalt his name together. Blessings, Pastor Lawson Updates from the Session A Praying Church: It is apparent to the Session that God wants to bless this congregation and its ministry. God is calling us into deeper relationship and we are responding. The session has asked that you join us in praying through the Gospel of John beginning Monday, August 5, 2013. God is calling us to be praying church; a place where the Spirit of God is dwelling in and among us. Where the Spirit dwells, there is hope, peace, joy and love. Please pray with us.
