Freddy Gardner E-Mail: fmgard@bellsouth.net Cell: 912-278-1783 Home: 912-693-6083 Ministry Assistant: Joyce Collins Email: tebaassistant@yahoo.com Life is full of embarrassing moments. On Friday, July 7, six of us were leaving Savannah airport on the way to Haiti for a mission trip. After checking in, getting our tickets, and saying goodbyes, we proceeded to the TSA secure checkin. After removing my laptop from its bag and removing things from my pocket. I took off my belt and then my shoes to proceed to the metal detector only to discover that my shorts were on the ground. I was standing there in my boxers. I quickly pulled them up proceeded through the security area and then went to redress. Lynn, my bride of 36 years, was about to explode with laughter. One of the other team members went to laughing, she had observed my situation. A couple other team members, who were in a different line, came up and wanted to know what was so funny. My bride, Did ya ll see Freddy show his behind. The others said they did not see or hear, thinking of our colloquialism about being angry. No, he really showed his behind, Lynn said and then explained what had happened. So to set the story straight before it gets embellished, that is one of my most embarrassing moments. We did have a great trip to Haiti. In the mountains of Maissade there was an average of 175 children in Vacation Bible School each day. 47 professed faith in Jesus on Thursday. Pray for the church as they follow up with each child. Also, during the week the team ministered to 183 people in a health clinic. On arriving back in Port-Au-Prince the VBS average was 70 with 12 children professing faith. In addition around 100 people were given reading glasses on Friday afternoon. Please pray about going next Summer, 2018, with us as we reach out with the gospel of Jesus. The annual mission trip to Ducktown, NC and the Copper Basin Crisis Center is coming up quickly. The trip will be Sept. 3-8. Cost is $125.00 which will include lodging, meals, and travel. Please call Joyce here at the office and let her know if you are attending. On Thursday, Aug. 24, 6:30 pm at Collins Baptist will be the first meeting of the Sunday School Mentoring Program. Pray for Bull Creek, Collins, Oak Grove and Pine Grove as they work on Sunday School. A Discipleship Rally will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, beginning at 6:30 pm. The rally will be held at Reidsville Baptist. A spokesman from Lifeway will present a new discipleship program available to churches. Hello Brothers, The Men s ministry is in the incipient stages of the August Mission Project. As stated in the Last Report, the TEBA Men s Ministry have decided to forgo a dinner for 3 rd quarter in leu of a mission project. We have been given a project at Conner s Baptist to help upgrade the electrical wiring in the church and social hall. We have met and decided that the project will be divided into 3 stages. With the cooperation of the brotherhood at Conner s, we will begin to assemble teams and divide the project up into stages according to opportune work days. We will accomplish this schedule at the Men s Ministry Committee Meeting held on August 1 st at the TEBA Office at 7:00pm. First Phase will be to construct a new electrical room and create a wiring schematic. We will have a team to remove existing storage closet and build a room that will house the new panel box and electrical pathway. We will serve a meal on site for our brotherhood fellowship. Second Phase will be to connect A/C units and other electrical appliances to the power grid. Supplies will be purchased and be on hand to install Panel Box and connect all existing Appliances, Water Heater and necessary electrical needs to said Panel Box. We will serve a meal on site for our brotherhood fellowship. Third Phase will be to complete wiring in Church and Social hall. Final wiring to be completed and receptacles placed in strategic areas, (i.e. Sunday school rooms foyer, social hall) in addition to receptacles in church there will be GFCI receptacles added to bathrooms and kitchen areas. We will serve a meal on site for our brotherhood fellowship. This is our new direction to make our current Ministry into a more productive and local serving Men s Ministry. Different churches throughout the Association agreed to host each date. We are looking forward to being more productive in the coming year. The next WMU Mission Project for each church in our association will be "Christmas In August. Our next Association WMU Team Meeting will be held at Cobbtown First Baptist on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Our WMU will be discussing plans for our second Girls Day to be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017. WMU's goal is to go out into our communities to tell others about Jesus and what HE can do for them. Helping others in need is what our organization is all about. May God Bless You!! The North American Mission Board and national WMU partner in choosing the missionaries who then provide a list of items they wish to receive. Missions groups gather the requested items and send them to the missionaries. The missionaries expressed gratitude for your support when they sent their requests. They are excited about receiving these items! 3
