UNITED CHRISTIAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP This month, I d like to highlight some of our plans for the summer and share why I think camps are important. In the gospels, we hear again and again how Jesus went out into the wilderness to grow closer to God. It s easy to get caught up in our routines and schedule God in only for an hour or two on Sundays. We have a lot of amazing chances to go out into the community, into the wilderness, the lake, and more this summer to combat this. Camps and mission trips, just like the wilderness in the gospels, are times to set aside our normal way of doing things and look to God to see who we re being called to be. Not only will they be chances for big growth in our spiritual walks, they ll be chances to make lifelong friends with other people who are looking to God too. Be sure to mark your calendars and plan to attend one (or many) of these chances to have fun and grow with God. There are a ton of camps this summer! More info is available if you want to reach out to Nick at (806) 773-6647 or youthdirector@jacksboroparish.com, or look online for info. Register ASAP and let Nick know so he can help coordinate rides, help find scholarships, and support you and your youth along the way. Most of these camps cost about $100 originally, but we will work hard to find ways to help cover this cost, just let us know! JYF CAMP - Grades 3-5. July 2-6 and August 6-10 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. CHI RHO CAMP - Grades 6 & 7. June 11-16, July 16-21 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. EIGHTER'S YOUTH CONFERENCE - Grade 8. AKA The birds and the bees camp June 24-30 at Disciples Crossing in Athens.

WATER SPORTS CAMP - Grades 6-12. No previous water sports experience is required but youth do need to be strong swimmers. July 30 August 3 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. ADDAM CAMP - Grades 9-12. ADDaM Camp (Art, Drama, Dance, and Music) is a 7 day adventure for high school aged campers. Our very own Rev. Dr. Suzanne Castle will be doing the choreography for this camp and can help bring youth out and back! June 24-30 at Disciples Crossing in Athens. More CAMPS are happening! We re teaming up with Ridglea Presbyterian in Fort Worth to go to MO RANCH this summer. Keep an eye on the newsletter and the UCYF facebook page for updates. SCHOLARSHIPS - Scholarships are always available! For all camps, we are covering 50% of the early bird price. We re working to make all of these opportunities as affordable as we can make them. But, we always understand when money is tight. Do not let that be something that stops you from joining us this summer! Contact Nick directly or leave a message with the church office. We want you and your youth to join us, and we especially want to make sure everyone gets as many chances as possible for a life changing summer! We will work to get scholarships from the camps and mission trip opportunities, and can help sponsor youth if extra support is needed. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - July 23rd to July 26th at the Parish. We re focusing on Daniel. MISSION TRIP - This year, our mission trip will be to The Blue Theology Project in Monterey, California. This is a chance to see some amazing stuff and learn about how Christians are called to care for the world. We ll be there from July 13th to July 18th. Through fundraisers, we hope the final price will be close to $150 and that will include travel, food, and everything else. POOL PARTY - Our yearly pool party is scheduled for August 12th!

Just a reminder. All tithes and offerings given will need to be made out to THE PARISH, instead of MCC or FPC. There are a couple of ways you can give: 1) By cash or check in the offering plate or in the church office 2) Through the TITHE.LY app or online at TITHE.LY/GIVE Thank you for continuing to invest in the life of our church. Great things are coming!

MDO Xtreme February was a busy month at MDO! Our classes enjoyed decorating Valentine boxes and exchanging cards with their friends. We spent a week focusing on fairytales with kings and queens and ended the month with a Dr. Seuss week! Each class was encouraged to dress up in Wacky Wear, so be on the lookout for more photos soon! Our first annual Daddy Daughter Dance fundraiser was a HUGE success and was given rave reviews! We were thrilled with the turn out and how much fun everyone had. We can t wait for next year s dance! THANK YOU to everyone that supported this event!

A Word From Our Minister The ministry of Jesus was one of asking questions. He employed this method to routinely shape his disciples into the leaders he needed them to be. Question-asking is an important marker of our faith journey, as those who have been charged with being the church in this time and place. Jesus asked questions about assumptions in the world. Jesus asked questions that cut right to the heart of who the disciples were (their hopes, dreams, motives.) He asked questions that got them to look beneath the surface and see the kingdom of God breaking into their world. How are you with Jesus questions? Have you looked at them in a while? Try this: each week, select a question that Jesus asked. (*note: there are HUNDREDS so there are no lack of options to choose from.) Select a question and give it time. Sit with it. Notice where it intersects with your life and your faith. The first question Jesus asks in the Gospels is in Matthew 5:13: You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loess its saltiness, how will it become salty again? Its good for nothing except to be thrown away and trampled under people s feet. If we give the Spirit room we will surely bump into occasions through our week where, if we are paying attention, we recognize that this question is directed at us. May we be on a questioning journey together, my friends. Suzanne
