Thank You Henry Zajda Chaplain s Report During the month of May, we pray and pay honor to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and exemplar of the Holy Church. I am not sure how it is with you but, when I think about Mary and her love for God, Jesus her son and Joseph her most chaste spouse, it stirs up memories of my Mom and how she showed her love and care for our family. Growing up in what I think was a typical Italian American home, there were certain practices that were not found in some families. For instance, Dad used to work long days, rise and be out of the house before anyone else was up and returning well after the street lights had flickered on.
Chaplain s Report (continued) As was the norm for us, Mom would feed us children dinner early, and then upon his return home would serve Dad his dinner and wait at the table, not eating until he was finished. While this may sound very subservient, it was just what she did. She didn t do it because she was told to do it, or was expected to do it; no, she did it out of love and respect for this man who she shared all the good and bad that life had to offer them. And so it was with Mary, answering God s call, out of pure love and faith in God, Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. (Luke 1:38). These words demonstrate not only devotion but a great love, a great respect and an unwavering faith in God. By the power of the Holy Spirit and through the intercession of the Blessed Mother, may we all continue to grow in love, faith and in service to God and to his Holy Church. Most Holy Queen of the Rosary, Pray for us. Deacon Joseph Yannotta
