St. Patrick s Shamrock Page 3 Notes From Sarah Dear Friends in Christ, Advent, the season of preparation has begun. It is the time when we prepare our hearts, souls, and minds for the coming of Christ. It is a time when we discern how we can better reflect Emmanuel, God with us, to the world. It is a time when we return, renew, recommit to the way of love, as modeled by Christ Jesus. I ask you to use this Advent as an opportunity to consider how you walk in the way of love, not only during this holiday season, but every day of your life. Jesus way of love is inclusive inviting in lepers and sex workers, those on the margins. Who do we tend to exclude from our community? Jesus way of love is compassionate healing the blind and the paralyzed. Who in our lives might need some healing from wounds crushing their souls? Jesus way of love accepts the other the Samaritan woman at the well and the Syrophoenician woman hemorrhaging blood. Who in our world has exhibited signs of courage and faith, yet we have deemed them too different, too other, to accept into our hearts? My friends, Jesus way of love is not easy, yet it is required of us as children of God, as people of the faith, as disciples of Christ. We are called to walk in the way of Jesus, the way of love, no matter how difficult it may be, no matter how the world pushes back against us. So let us enter this Christmas season, preparing for the Christ child, with our hearts, souls, and minds, renewed for the journey ahead, our journey with Jesus.
