Core Value Assessment This assessment is designed to help you determine how those in your ministry live out the values that have become a part of Yosemite Church. It is not an assessment of other churches or religious organizations that may hold other Biblical values. These five values define how Yosemite Church has uniquely been called to build a Biblically functioning community (Acts 2:42-47). This tool can be used to foster discussion and to check on perception on each of the five core values. Key leaders and influencers should use it to evaluate their ministry team s understanding of these values. Finally, after your team has completed the assessment, you can get together as a group to discuss your answers. The following is a suggested format for use: 1. Distribute the assessment to the members of your team.* 2. Tabulate their scores. 3. Discuss the results as a team. 4. Identify how to better implement a particular value. *For example, you may first want to complete the assessment with your ministry leaders, then have them review it with their teams. Eventually, everyone in a small group or team should participate. Then the leaders tabulate the scores of each group and discuss it with them. Note: Each value is represented by only four questions; therefore, this tool is not intended to be an exhaustive analysis of our church.

How are the 5 Core Values lived out in your team or group? 1 = This is not us (at least not yet). 3 = This is mostly true of us. 2 = This is somewhat true of us. 4 = That s really us! 1. We let truths from the Bible influence our interaction and behavior. 2. We talk and listen to God about authentic issues at our regular meetings. 3. We treat people as valuable regardless of race, economic or social position in life. 4. We train and place volunteers on our team according to God s unique design for them (i.e. their spiritual gifts, passion, personal style/temperament and values). 5. We speak positively about other Christian churches and ministries. 6. We connect our choices to Biblical truths. 7. During meetings, we often tell stories of building relationships with non-believing people outside of the church. 8. Our team regularly nurtures connecting, growing and serving. 9. We work to resolve conflict with others in a Christ-honoring manner. 10. We study the Bible with others. 11. We support the growth and development of our church through the investment of our talents, time, and tithes. 12. My teammates personally model and promote a prioritization of our time to meet regularly with God, through prayer, meditation, Bible reading and worship. 13. We associate with people of low position. 14. We speak often of what we are learning and experiencing in our relationship with Christ. 15. We encourage reconciliation between believers regardless of where they worship. 16. We memorize key scriptures. 17. We participate in development opportunities provided by my church and other Christian equipping agencies. 18. Our team resists labeling, gossiping, slandering, and judging others. 19. We practice authenticity and accountability with one another to help enhance our intimacy with God. 20. We participate in community efforts that network various ministries within Yosemite Church as well as between other churches.

Interpreting Your Score 1. We Value the Inspired Word of God #1 #6 #10 #16 All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the men of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:16 (NIV) 2. We Value the Intrinsic Worth of Every Person #3 #7 #13 #18 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Gen. 1:27 (NIV)

3. We Value an Intimate Walk with God #2 #12 #14 #19 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:11-15 (NIV) 4. We Value the Investment Work of Discipleship #4 #8 #11 #17 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

5. We Value the Intentional Witness of Unity #5 #9 #15 #20 My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:20-21 (NIV) If you scored a total of: 4-8 LEVEL 1 This value is hardly present. We may believe in it, but seldom express it or spend resources planning or executing it. 9-12 LEVEL 2 This value is somewhat present. We may hold the value high, but model it only about 50% of the time. It is not widely or deeply held throughout our team/group. 13-16 LEVEL 3 This value is very present. We hold this value extremely high, modeling it, investing time and resources planning and executing it and making decisions around it.
