Renovation Project Welcome Dear Friends in Christ, Sacraments I hope you have taken the opportunity to reflect on our Project Board for the Interior of the Church in the back of the Church and/or on the OLM Website. In addition to this effort, our Renovation Project calls for several new handicapped parking spaces and the restoration of the chapel and church parking lots. For this entire project, the Parish Financial Council has approved a budgeted cost of $6, based on firm cost quotes and a contingency of $35, consisting of the following major items. Major Effort Demolition & Floor Porcelain floor Pews & Kneelers Remolding Walls & Prayer Areas Plaster & Painting Appointments Carpentry/Sound/Electric Interior of the Church Total Handicapped Parking Chapel Parking Lot Church Parking Lot Subtotal Contingentcy Total Renovation Project Anticipated Costs 1st Priority $ 25, 11, 9, 45, 1, 6, 15, $355, 4, $395, 3, $425, 2nd Priority $ 7, 1, $17, 5, $175, Total $ 25, 11, 9, 45, 1, 6, 15, $355, 4, 7, 1, $565, 35, $6, It is our intention to complete the Interior of the Church and the Handicapped Parking as soon as we have sufficient funds in hand for this work. This is our 1st Priority. The elements in this grouping have an anticipated cost of $395, plus a $3, contingency representing more than two-thirds of the total budget. With the completion of this work and receipt of the necessary funds ($175,) the Chapel and Church parking lots will then be addressed. We currently anticipate using $115, of parish savings primarily for the Remodeling and purchase of the Appointments. This would leave a need for total parish support of $485,. Given our interest in completing this project on a timely basis and specifically the interior of the church and new handicapped spaces before the end of the year, we will be asking each of you to contribute whatever you can and feel appropriate in the next four months. I ask that you continue to pray for our parish and the successful completion of this endeavor. Yours in Christ, Father Sean Pastor

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 17, 216 HIS WORD TODAY Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha burdened with much serving, came to him and said. Lord do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me. A mark of many religious communities is the gift of hospitality. Like Abraham, and the family of Bethany, being a host was something special. In both cases, the guests were truly special. The conversations became more telling than the visit itself. Perhaps the anxiety of receiving the Lord made Martha nervous. Surely she wanted things to be nice for the Lord and needed Mary s help. As she complained, Jesus responded, praising the importance of Mary s role as listener. How well do I listen to the needs of others. Someone might be hurting and they need to vent. Someone might be overjoyed at some good news, and by sharing it they double it. Hospitality, the gift of receiving others with their hopes and hurts, with their joys and sorrows, with their wants and needs, enables others to find the Lord Himself. It is a gift that costs little, but has great rewards. Readings for the Week Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Sunday Gn 18:1-1a; Col 1:24-28; Lk 1:38-42 Monday Mi 6:1-4, 6-8; Mt 12:38-42 Tuesday Mi 7:14-15, 18-2; Mt 12:46-5 Wednesday Jer 1:1, 4-1; Mt 13:1-9 Thursday Jer 2:1-3, 7-8, 12-13; Mt 13:1-17 Friday Jer 3:14-17; Jn 2:1-2, 11-18 Saturday Jer 7:1-11; Mt 13:24-3 PREPARING FOR NEXT SUNDAY SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Genesis 18:2-32 Abraham pleads with the Lord, who planned to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of the evil and sin in those cities. Abraham asks him if he would spare the city if fifty, forty, thirty, twenty or even only ten innocent people were found there. God says that he would spare the cities even for the sake of only ten. Second Reading: Colossians 2:12-14 Paul explains to the Colossians that through baptism, they are raised to life with Christ because they believed in the power of the God who raised him from the dead. Even though they once lived in sin, their sins have been pardoned through Jesus. Gospel: Luke 11:1-13 Jesus' disciples asked him how they should pray. He gave them some phrases similar to those now used in the Lord's prayer. Jesus also reminds the disciples how even men with sins are able to give good things to their children, and explains how much more the heavenly Father wants to give to us. I am a minister in accordance with God s stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God. - Colossians 1:25. Believe it or not, we are all called to evangelize to continuously grow in our knowledge and relationship with Jesus and to share it with others. We may not be called to evangelize like St. Paul, but we should look for opportunities to share our Faith with those closest to us, like our family and friends.
