Second Sunday of Advent December 9, 2018 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (Grades 1 through 5) Coordinators: Maura Dowling & Karen Gill Secretary: Sarah McCrann Religious Ed. Office: (781) 826-2351 or reled@holymothers.com This Week in the Gospel Dates to Remember: December 15 at 4pm Mass - Grade Two Poem December 16 at 10am Mass - Grade Two Poem December 17 - TIME CHANGE! 4 to 5:30 p.m. December 18 - NO CLASS December 20 - Cardinal Cushing 3:45 to 5 p.m. January 6 at 6pm Mass - Grade Two Poem Today we light the second candle on our Advent wreath. We light the candle of peace -- for our King -- the Prince of Peace. Heavenly Father, we look forward to celebrating the birthday of our King, Jesus. He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords, and the Prince of Peace. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus, Come and be born in my Heart. The Gospel this week tells about John the Baptist, Jesus cousin, who told everyone that Jesus would be coming. He wanted to baptize everyone so that by their repentance they would make a clear path for Jesus to come into their hearts. During this second week of Advent, what is it we need to do to clear a path in our lives to make it easier for us to welcome Christ into our hearts. Think about the hard work that goes into making a path, through the snow or the bushes. Do you have some heavy habits that need to be shoveled out of the way? Do you need to cut back the branches of selfishness or greed to open up that path? Maybe you could use the sacrament of Reconciliation to help you clear your path. Tomorrow, December 10 at 7:15 pm we have the opportunity to come to an Advent Penance Service. Perhaps come as a family and celebrate this sacrament together.
