Commander s Corner Fellow Legion Family Members; Christmas is approaching rapidly, probably faster than most of us are prepared for, which means that there is a mad rush to get ready for the Big Day. Christmas is a time for family and friends, and as such we need to steal some time from our frantic preparations for them. I recognize that a great part of the frantic rush is buying presents. If we pause to think about the enjoyment the recipients of these presents will receive, the shopping may become more enjoyable, or at least, a less of a drudge. As a time for family, we need to think of our Legion family. Sometimes just a smile and warm wishes are the best present. Some of our family may need monetary aid, given through the VA and supporting organizations. VAMC visitation can be a good present for those in the Medical Center. Also, don t forget to drop a dollar or two in the Red Kettle behind the bar, to aid the Salvation Army. This also a good time to look back on the year and grade ourselves and the year in general. For my grading, I look back to decide what I feel the most blessed about: my family and friends, my health (I am still upright and still taking nourishment), the great staff here at the Post, and my entire Legion Family. After these jumbled thoughts, I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Holy, and Prosperous New Year. May Also, May God Bless you and watch over you, and our military, keep safe those in harm s way. God bless this wonderful country of ours. Commander Tom Hello Ladies! Auxiliary President s Corner Our Holiday Boutique was a huge success! We invested in new signs and advertising to bring in the people. The Crafters were happy about that! We did fabulous on the bake sale and the boy scouts brought in some poppy donations! The kitchen did very well too! Thank you to all who put this event together, from phone calls, selling tables, baking, kitchen help, signs, hard work moving tables around and all it took to make it a success! If you plan on bringing a child to the Children s Christmas Party on Sunday, December 9, make sure you call Tammy at the Legion 651-770-1944 to let her know your child s gender and age. Santa will arrive around 1pm. Come and join us for the fun! Our next meeting will be Thursday December 13 th at 7PM. After the meeting, we will join the Legionaries to celebrate the Holiday Season. Please bring an appetizer to share. Legionaries will provide refreshments. Our box (located near the cash machine) for the CRRC was full! The items have been repacked to deliver. Please remember, that due to health reasons, they can only accept new items. Please do not place like new items in the box as they will be returned to us. Like new items can be donated to the VA and will be put to good use for our Veterans in need! This is a great Veterans project for us! We can arrange to deliver these items soon. (continued next page)

The date we are given to serve a lunch to the Vets at CRRC is Tues Jan 22. We need about 4-5 people to put this together. They do not so will have to plan ahead of time. If you can t go, you could help make food at home. More to come on this! have a kitchen We are also adopting 3 Veterans at the Hastings VA for Christmas AND we are preparing a box to ship to a soldier who was deployed. That is our Auxiliary Funds put to good use! Good job team!!! Till we meet again Thank our Veterans! From the Bar Board I hope that you had a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends. It s apparent that old man winter has made his annual presence and will be visiting us for the next few months. Ironically, there was a lot of last-minute lawn mowing and leaf blowing being done this last week. Hope you got caught up with the last preparations for winter. For those of you who enjoy ice fishing, please be patient until the ice is at least 4-5 inches of solid ice before walking to your favorite fishing haunt. For all of you who enjoy any and all winter sports, be SAFE and have fun. Don t forget the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 39 pancake breakfast on December 8th. We will be serving pancakes, eggs, sausage and a beverage from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. The cost is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Thank you to all who participated in the Thanksgiving Mega Meat Raffle that was held on November 17th. I hope that you were lucky enough to win a turkey, ham or cash prizes and that you had an enjoyable time. The Vikings are still in the hunt and the Wild are off to a good start of their NHL season.
