November 25, 2018 *CONGREGATION STANDS AS ABLE WELCOME and INVITATION Service for the Lord s Day The Season of Pentecost Twenty-seventh Sunday The People of God Gather 10:30 A.M. LITURGICAL COLOR: WHITE PRELUDE A Mighty Fortress - arr., Georg Telemann *CALL to WORSHIP (Joel 2:21-24) Leader: We shall not fear. We shall be glad and rejoice, for the LORD has done great things. People: We shall be glad and rejoice in the LORD, for he has provided abundantly for us. Leader: Our tables are full of bread. Our cups overflow with drink. Our lives have been saved. People: We will eat in plenty and be satisfied. We will praise the name of the LORD who has dealt wondrously with us, for we know that the LORD is our God and we are his people. *HYMN We Gather Together No. 559 PRAYER of CONFESSION (and silent confession) Leader: God clothes the grass of the field and feeds the birds of the air. How much more does God clothe and feed us? God provides for our every need, but we often forget it. We worry too much, and it robs us of life. Holy Scripture teaches that we must trust and hope in God. So, with outstretched arms and contrition in our hearts, let us confess this terrible fault and turn back to God, so that we may be pardoned. (Unison) You created us, O God, and by your power alone are we sustained. You have given us everything we need, but we take your gifts for granted and we fail to praise you. You provide more than we can use for the purpose of sharing with our neighbors, but we worry that there will not be enough. Our anxiety gets in the way of our generosity. Forgive us, God of grace. Let us enjoy with gratitude what you have provided. Trusting in your abundant care for us, let us share with those who are in need, so that we may bring glory to your holy name and draw others into your blessed Kingdom. Amen. ASSURANCE of PARDON Leader: Whenever we fully and truthfully admit our faults to God, God s mercy is complete and eternal; therefore, I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, that we are forgiven! People: We are truly forgiven. Thanks be to God. *PASSING the PEACE *GLORIA PATRI Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. Please stand when Tyler indicates. *AFFIRMATION of FAITH The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell. The third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

OFFERING of TITHES and GIFTS Offertory Doubly Good to You - comp., Rich Mullins Laura Hoyer, soloist *Doxology, *Prayer of Dedication Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. JOYS AND CONCERNS Pastor s Prayer The Lord s Prayer ( forgive us our debts ) Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own.
