Since joining the Knights, Brother Ini has been very active in Council affairs, and we thank him for stepping up to this position. As with any new job, there is a learning process during the initial stages. This phase is being made a little easier, because our outgoing Financial Secretary, Brother John Vergano, is making himself available for questions and guidance that may be needed. Brother John, for this, the Council thanks you. I know exactly what it feels like to have that kind of support. Our Past Grand Knight, Brother Bill Tronolone, has done that for me when I served as Deputy Grand Knight. During his term, Brother Bill kept me informed of the policies and procedures of the Council, and often asked for my input on upcoming events. Knowing that I have his support, along with the Officers and Council, makes the Grand Knight position a little easier, and for this, I am truly thankful. Continued on Page 2

Monthly Chapter Meeting On Friday, January 20 th, Sir Knights John Vergano and Joseph Sabella attended the Monthly Chapter Meeting at St. Andrews Council #5088 in Avenel. The Chapter was honored to have presentations from two guest speakers, our Bishop James Francis Checchio and Father Jason Pavich. Father Jason who was ordained four years ago, is currently the Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Metuchen. The Bishop talked about his days in Rome where he was the director of the Pontifical North American College. As the newly assigned diocesan bishop, he mentioned he had five more parishes to call on, which would complete his promise to visit all the parishes in Metuchen Diocese. Before his ordination, Father Jason, was assigned to the Nativity of Our Lord Parish to perform his seminarian duties. Our Council #14658 decided to sponsor him as he completed his studies at the Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall. He mentioned that last year, the theological college had only 9 seminarians and this year that number had increased to 16. He thanked the Knights for their aid, and asked that everyone continue with their financial and spiritual support for those studying for the priesthood. Fraternally, Joseph L. Sabella, FDD February 2017 Newsletter - Page 9
