First Sunday of Advent Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord. - - Psalm 122 Thank you for attending Mass with us today. Monsignor Michael Reed, Father Hank Lech and the St. Rose of Lima parish family welcome visitors and new members. If you are not currently a registered member and wish to be, please contact the parish office, or complete the form on the front of this bulletin and drop it in the collection basket. BE PREPARED Be prepared. It's that simple. As this Advent season opens before us, the Lord Jesus summons us to stand ready for his coming. At this time of year much of our attention is focused on being prepared for the details that accompany the holiday season. We purchase gifts; we decorate our homes, inside and out; we prepare foods that we eat only during the holidays; we write and send Christmas cards; we attend holiday concerts; we prepare either to welcome family and friends into our homes or arrange for visits to their homes. We really can't escape the details that make up the season. Perhaps this Advent is a time to attend to all those details with a different spin. As we prepare to celebrate the feast of Christmas, why not be deliberate about acknowledging the presence of the Lord as we go about these tasks? The Lord often comes to us in wonderfully surprising ways. Let us be prepared. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Please see the flyer located in this week s bulletin. St. Rose Angel Tree St Rose of Lima Advent Day of Reflection Saturday, December 3, 2016 The speaker is Fr. Joseph Thomas Fowler II, who was selected from our diocese by Pope Francis to be our Missionary of Mercy. As we wind up the Jubilee Year of Mercy, come hear what the year has brought and how our Mission is to continue being merciful beyond this Jubilee Year into our everyday lives as Catholics. Christmas will soon be upon us and for many it is a time of blessings, but for some it is also very stressful. Consider helping our St. Rose family by choosing an Angel from our Angel Tree. Please return gifts the weekend of December 11th. Socks for Christmas The Jail Ministry gives socks to inmates for Christmas, and we re asking parishioners to help! The jail floor gets very cold in the winter and since inmates only wear flip-flops, having a pair of socks would be very comforting. This is the only Christmas gift they will receive and many of the inmates actually break down and cry when they are presented with this small gift. Tube socks are needed for men and women and must be 95% solid white. No brand names, logos, etc. are allowed. Please collect a package or two and drop them off in the grocery carts in the back of the church Training for Active Altar Servers Saturday, December 3, 2016 Meet Fr. Hank in the church for this mandatory training. There are two trainings scheduled: 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Middle School and High School 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Elementary School Since the altar server training will be different for each age group, it is up to the parent if they have children in multiple age groups how they would like to proceed. If you cannot come on this date, please contact Dolores Gardner at 450-7376 to make other arrangements. Preference for Christmas Altar Serving assignments will be given to those who have completed this training.
