If you are visiting today, please sign the guest book in the narthex. Everyone please sign the Fellowship Pad in your pew. These can help you get to know the others around you. Also, be sure to mark the pad if you partake in Holy Communion. Thanks for taking time to fill out this information! Large print bulletins and assistive listening devices are available. If you would benefit from either of these, please ask an usher. If you have a prayer concern to share, please use a prayer request card located in the pew racks and place in the offering plate. The liturgical color for Christ the King Sunday is white. White symbolizes purity, holiness, respect and reverence. Christ is the head of the church. BETHANY TO PRESENT LECTURE SERIES: THE MESSIAH, THE BIBLE, & BACH Why is the sacred music of Handel and Bach often presented to modern audiences in a secular context, as a piece of classical concert music? And why do so few churches embrace their music in the context of worship? Can their music point modern audiences to the message of the Gospel? Stephen will join Pastor Jen as we explore these questions and more during our regular Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship services in Advent and Lent. We will dig deeply into the beloved music of Handel, Bach, & others, to explore how these composers used the structure and idioms of the Baroque period to paint literal representations of biblical scenes and present complex theological ideas with their music. During this series we ll sing and listen to their music and explore the biblical teachings behind it. Pastor Jen and Stephen are excited to share this new experience with Bethany and the wider community as an opportunity for members and visitors to come when they are able to be fed spiritually and gain a new appreciation for music we get to hear and sing too rarely in Northwest Iowa. We encourage you to tell others and invite them to come. Watch for more details to come.
