On Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th the school children will have the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts for parents, grandparents, siblings, or whomever they wish. There will be a wide selection of items to choose from that vary in price starting around $4.00 and up. Envelopes for you to fill out regarding how much you want your child to spend will be sent home Monday, November 26 th. There will be adults available to assist the children with their purchases. All gifts will be put in gift bags so you will not have to wrap a thing. Pre-K students will be first to shop on Thursday morning and then Kindergarten and so on. All proceeds will benefit St. Mark s Youth Group. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, November 27th for parents of our 6th and 7th graders in the school cafeteria at 6:30 pm to discuss the future class trip to Washington DC. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. If an emergency arises and you find yourself unable to attend please call Mrs. Dawn Uchtman at 618-521-1066. St. Mark s will again be having a Warming Tree! The first week of December there will be an undecorated Christmas tree in the school lobby as you enter the door by the office. The children will be asked to bring new mittens, gloves, hats, and socks of all sizes to put on the tree. The items collected will be taken to Peace Lutheran Church in conjunction with their Angel Tree program. As you begin your Christmas shopping, consider purchasing an extra pair of mittens, gloves, socks, or a warm hat for our Warming Tree. It would be greatly appreciated. The students in grades 1-8 will be presenting their Christmas program entitled, Color It Joyful on Saturday, December 15th at 6:00 pm at St. Mark s Lutheran Church. Colors play a big part in our lives. God created color for our enjoyment as we view the wonders of nature s colorful animals and plants. God also gave us color to represent our sin and salvation. Colors are often mentioned in scripture, from the reddest crimson to the whitest snow. Come and see the students present this color-filled Christmas worship service and celebrate the birth of Christ!
