Let one or two teachers lead activities in different areas of the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. 1. Global Pass Made to Move: An activity that uses a preschooler s natural desire to move to help them learn What You Need: An inflatable globe What You Do: During the Activity: Gather the children in an open area of the room. Allow children to practice tossing the globe back and forth. Once they ve mastered that, encourage them to tap the globe and try to keep it in the air. Then pass the globe around the circle. We live right here. (Point to where you live on the globe.) Did you know that God s Word is with us wherever we go even if we travel all the way over here? (Point to another continent.) Let s toss our globe back and forth! During the Activity: Great job! Now let s see if we can tap the globe and keep it in the air. Remember, no running. We don t want any friends to get hurt!
After the Activity: That was SUPER fun! Will you please toss the globe back to me? (Pause until the globe is passed to you.) Now, I want us to take turns passing the globe to one another like this. (Toss the ball to the child on your left.) God s Word is with [child s name] wherever he/she goes. Let s keep passing the globe around the circle as we repeat that phrase. (Repeat with each child.) Great job passing the globe! In our Bible story today, we re going to hear how God s Word is with us wherever we go. Super fun! Transition: Move to Worship and Story by pointing to a child and saying, God s Word is with [child s name] wherever you go. 2. During the Activity: Give the children the tweezers. Encourage the children to use the tweezers to pick up the pom-poms and place them inside the cookie cutters. Continue the activity until all of the cookie cutters are filled. What You Say: Before the Activity: I see empty hearts on the table! (Point.) Let s fill them up! During the Activity: Use the tweezers to pick up the pom-poms and place them inside the hearts. (Demonstrate.) Let s see how many we can get inside of each heart! (Do activity.)
After the Activity: Great job! Now the pom-poms will be with the heart wherever it goes! Today we are going to hear about something that is always with us too: God s Word. Let s get ready to hear our TRUE story from the Bible! CONNECTING PLACE (Small Groups, 25 minutes) Create a safe place to connect through activities that are written to reach every learning style while reinforcing the Bottom Line that was introduced during the Bible Story and applying it to real life experiences. We have three special charms we are going to put on our necklace. One of the charms is super-duper special! It is a picture of the Bible. (Hold up.) Push the yarn into the hole (demonstrate) of the charm so that we can add them to the necklace. (Finish activity.) After the Activity: Awesome! Your necklaces look fantastic! You can wear them and show that you carry God s Word which is from the Bible with you wherever you go! What is with you wherever you go? [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go! Prayer Pray to God Prayer Activity Made to Reflect: An activity that encourages personal application and prayer SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): It s Small Group time! Follow me wherever I go! I m going this way. (Pause.) Now I m going this way. Follow me wherever I go! (Lead the children around the room and then finally to your Small Group spot.)
We made it! Thank you for following me. Let s sit down and talk about today s Bible story. One, two, three, sit down with me! (Open the Bible and hold it for the children to see.) Our Bible story today was about how we can take God s Word with us wherever we go. God s Words are in the Bible. (Hold up the Bible.) This is a Bible. Can you say, Bible, with me? CHILREN and SGL: Bible! SGL: When we read the Bible and practice saying God s words, these special words go inside our heart and we can remember them anytime we want. That s how we take God s Word with us wherever we go. So, when I ask you: What is with you wherever you go, I want you to say, [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go. Let s try that. What is with you wherever you go? CHILDREN and SGL: [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go. SGL: Yes! God s Word is with [child s name] wherever he/she goes. (Say this with each child s name as you touch the top of his/her head.) Now who s ready to practice saying some of God s Word? (Pause.) I am! And I have the perfect Bible verse for us to say together. (Turn the pages of your Bible to the Memory Verse Card.) It says: I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands), Psalm 119:11. (Hold out hands like a book.) (Close Bible and lay it down.)
Let s stand up and say that together with the motions. Just say what I say and do what I do. CHILDREN and SGL: I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands), Psalm 119:11. (Hold out hands like a book.) (Repeat the verse with motions a few times.) SGL: I am so proud of you! (Give each child a high-five.) The more we practice saying those words, the more we will remember them. We will have God s Word in our heart and it will go with us wherever we go. What is with you wherever you go? CHILDREN and SGL: [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go. SGL: You got it! (Give two thumbs up.) Prayer SGL: Dear God, Your words are so special. They help us know how You made everything, how much You love us, and that Jesus wants to be our friend forever. Thank You for making a way for Your words to go with us wherever we go, like when we go to (read the list the children made). Please help us read and say your words so we will always have them in our heart. We love You, God! In Jesus name, amen. BIBLE STORY Engage kids hearts through a dynamic and interactive Bible story and prayer experience in a Large Group setting. Choose an engaging adult to tell the Bible story. This person should be able to command the attention of preschoolers and control the group through animated
storytelling. These scripts are written to be told and not read. Advanced preparation is necessary. First Look offers weekly introductory sketches and Bible stories on the DVD titled Wonder, Look at God s Story. Note: A story symbol (Activity Page) will be provided each week for you to use in your large group area. You can display the symbols on a screen or simply print and display them in your area. These symbols will be a part of the story review during Small Group time. Below are the symbols for the month: Week 1: Globe Week 2: Handprint Week 3: Clock Week 4: People Week 5: Jesus What You Need: Story Symbols used June Weeks 1-4, Globe Story Symbol Activity Page, white cardstock LEADER: Hi, friends! How many of you like to read books? Me too! I love to read books and look at the pictures. I really like adventure stories. Oooo, and fairy tales are fun. There are books about animals, and I LOVE animals! And school books help me learn all kinds of cool things. There are SO many great books, but there is one book that is super special. Can you guess what book I m talking about? It s the... drumroll please! (Demonstrate how to do a drumroll by patting your legs with your hands.) Are you ready? (Pause.) It s the BIBLE! (Hold up the Bible.)
Yes! The Bible is the most special book of all the books! It is God s words written to everyone in the world! The Bible shows us the way to go,... (Point to the Bible Story Symbol. )... how to love others,... (Point to the Heart Story Symbol. )... how to talk to God,... (Point to the Praying Hands Story Symbol. )... and how to share our stuff. (Point to the Smiley Face Story Symbol. ) Today I am going to tell you about how no matter where you go in the whole wide world... (Point to the Globe Story Symbol that has been added.)... you can take God s Word with you. Now, I know what you re thinking. How can I take God s Word with me wherever I go? What if my Bible won t fit in my bag or it s too heavy to carry everywhere? It s easy! You take it with you in your heart. (Cover your heart with both hands.)
Let me explain it to you this way. Everyone close your eyes and think about your favorite storybook the book you read over and over again. Maybe it s Good Night Moon or The Hungry Caterpillar. Think about your book. Now open your eyes. If I asked you to tell me what your favorite book is about, could you tell me? Sure, you could! If I asked you what the pictures in the book look like, could you tell me? Of course! Why? Because you have read your favorite book a million gazillion times, and now you don t have to have it with you to know what it s about. We can do the same thing with the Bible. We can read it lots and lots of times. We can say our memory verse over and over until we remember it. When we do that we are putting the words in our heart and carrying God s Word with us wherever we go! Then, when we have a friend over and she wants to play with the cars we re playing with, we ll remember that the Bible says we should share. Or when we wake up in the night and we re afraid, we ll remember that the Bible says God is always with me. Or when our little brother takes the last cookie and we re about to get really mad at him, we ll stop and remember that the Bible tells us to love others and be kind. I told you the Bible was the most special book of them all! The Bible is awesome! It is God s Words given to us. We can read it, say it, and remember it! That s how we take God s Word with us wherever we go. So when I ask you, What is with you wherever you go? I want you to say [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go! Got it? Get ready. What is with you wherever you go? CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go. LEADER: Again, what is with you wherever you go? CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] God s Word is with me wherever I go. LEADER: That s the truth, friends! You better believe it! Let s close our eyes and pray.
Prayer LEADER: Dear God, the Bible is so special. Thank You for giving us Your words. Please help us to read them, say them, and remember them so we can take Your Word with us wherever we go. We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen. Bye, friends! I ll see you next time!
