The glasses are $20 for a set of 4. They are cocktail (or juice) size and can be purchased at the church office. This is a unique and affordable Christmas gift idea too! St. Jude has received a lot of community praise for our renovated church. Now you can show your support while showing off your church in a fun way. This year, the Church celebrated Catechetical Sunday on September 21, 2014, and focused the theme on "Teaching About God's Gift of Forgiveness." Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. The diocese celebrated Catechetical Sunday with a breakfast with Bishop Robert Munch for those Catechists who have been serving for 20 years. St. Jude was represented by six members of our community: Mary Decuir, Lanelle Drago, Lyle Hitzman, Carol Kitchen, Moc Pham and Rita Wallace; we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their service and everyone else who serve as catechists.

October is Respect Life Month In a statement to mark Respect Life Month, Cardinal Sean O'Malley (Chair of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities) echoed Pope Francis' words, "Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God's creation, made in his own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect." Cardinal O'Malley said, "to women faced with an unexpected pregnancy, abortion is often presented as their only choice. A large percentage of children pre-diagnosed as having Down syndrome are never given the chance to live outside their mothers wombs. Elderly members of our families fear they will become burdensome and seek physician-assisted suicide. We see these and many more of our brothers and sisters pushed to the periphery... We must ask the Lord for the grace to see ourselves and others as he sees us - as masterpieces of his creation." Young men in the 8 th grade and their parents are invited to attend an Information Night at Catholic High School on either October 5 or October 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. AN EVENING WITH WARDEN BURL CAIN Bringing the Love of Christ to Those Who Live at Angola through Kairos, a St. Aloysius Ministry. For twenty-nine years, caring parishioners have responded to an annual invitation: Bear one another s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2) Modeling the love of Jesus, 272 Catholic parishioners from St. Jude the Apostle Church Parish participated this past year, contributing a total of $74,165. Please accept our thanks for your involvement. Bishop Robert W. Muench shepherds an ever-changing diocesan community, so needs are varied and ongoing. We invite you to take part once again. This week, parishioners will receive a personal invitation from Bishop Muench, mailed to their home, inviting them to participate in the 2014-15 Appeal. Please think of those in need and pledge your prayerful and financial support of the Bishop s Annual Appeal. From the blessing God has granted you, give to support the needs of those around you.
