The Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time Saturday and Sunday November 17-18, 2018 www.stjudecatholic.org November 17-18, 2018 Dear Friends: CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SECOND GRADERS who celebrated First Reconciliation this past Wednesday evening! As always, it was a great night. Thank you to our teachers at school, our PSR catechists, our parish office staff, our music ministry, and Michaelyn McGinnis (program coordinator) for your work with preparation throughout the year and for that night. It was really something special. As a side note, along with the other area priests who came to help out, Bishop Muench joined us also. Now that he is retired, he has time to do such things. We are extremely grateful to him for his presence. Please know of my prayers for you, your families, and all of your loved ones as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving Day and week. Please remember us in your prayers as well. Have a great week! Sincerely, Fr. Trey Pastor Bishop s Annual Appeal When We Minister to Those He Seeks, We Serve the Lord Jesus To illustrate the substance of real compassion, Jesus indicated we serve Him when we give to meet the needs of others. I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me (Mt 25:35-36). Faithful parishioners from our own parish, St. Jude, identify with the opportunity to serve Jesus by ministering to others, making the Bishop s Annual Appeal a priority every year. A single parish blesses others throughout the Diocese of Baton Rouge through such an effort. Please Follow the Shepherd s Lead, seek to serve those in need of God s blessing, and give to support ministries the BAA helps to fund. To encourage your participation, Bishop Duca recently mailed you a packet with helpful information concerning this year s campaign. You ll read about another year of record generosity, and discover new ways to bless our Catholic community going forward. Please be a part of that effort by choosing to contribute to the Bishop s Annual Appeal today. If you didn t receive a packet, please ask for that information. Simply call the Office of Stewardship, (225) 336-8790, or send an email message, stewardship@diobr.org. As you pray about your personal involvement, you will learn how you and your fellow parishioners enrich others lives through the Bishop s Annual Appeal. Visit www.baabr.org for additional stories and encouraging details.
