All in need of healing, or 60 years of age or older, are encouraged to attend. Like all the sacraments, the Holy anointing was instituted by Jesus Christ during his earthly ministry. The anointing of the sick conveys several graces and imparts gifts of strengthening in the Holy Spirit against anxiety, discouragement, and temptation and conveys peace and fortitude (CCC 1520). These graces flow from the atoning death of Jesus Christ, for this was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He took our infirmities and bore our diseases (Matt. 8:17) Today, family caregivers represent 65 million Americans; virtually every one of us will care for someone at some point in our lives. Caregivers in our parishes are juggling the challenges of life, health, family, career and caring for an ailing or aging parent, grandparent or spouse. The Catholic Church has a long history of accompanying people during times of change and transition, in her Sacraments, ministries and support programs. Nourish is a turn-key program to enable parish communities to minister to these family caregivers. The Diocese of Davenport is offering a presentation led by Deb Kelsey Davis, RN, lay minister and certified gerontology and Kelly Johnson, adult faith formation in Downers Grove, Il. They will share tools and insight to help aid those caring for their loved ones. The presentation is Saturday, December 1st from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Diocese of Davenport. If interested please register by November 23rd. For more information contact Marianne Agnoli at 563-888-4242 or agnolim@davenportdiocese.org
Nine years, yes nine years in a row of state volleyball tournament play for our Crusaders. The excitement and support that we get from teachers, parents, parishioners and so many more in our community is amazing. Thank you for your prayers for their success and safety. Fr. Bruce celebrated Mass and offered a special blessing to our volleyball team and coaches. It was a special reflection of what makes a real winner and our gifts from God. Holy Trinity Catholic is dedicated to helping all of our students be the best version of themselves and to become real winners. Miss Taylor, one of our religion teachers, started a fundraising project for the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting. HTC students, teachers and staff were generous in giving to this memorial fund. We pray for peace and kindness in our world. Our National Honor Society recently had a food drive and delivered hundreds of needed items to the Lee County Food Pantry. Holy Trinity Catholic continues to shine in acts of mercy, academics and extra curricular activities. We are so proud of our Catholic School System. Holy Trinity Elementary hosted a Veteran s day ceremony on Friday, November 9th. Mass was celebrated by Father Mark who gave a special blessing to those who served. After Mass veterans and all veterans in the school gym. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVED!
