We welcome Bishop Michael to Mackay to lead the Confirmation ceremony and he will be our special guest on Friday when he visits our school. This term our Religion classes have their focus on The Sacraments. Please keep the sacramental children in your prayers. You may like to discuss the Sacraments with your child, wherever they are on their spiritual path. I have included the following information for your reference. For Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, Baptism is the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God. (usually early infancy, however any age is acceptable) Calendar of Events MAY Tues 23 Wed 24 Fri 26 Sat 27 Mon 29 Eucharist workshop-st Mary s Hall @ 5:30pm National Simultaneous Storytime Year 4 Excursion - Mackay Recycling Facility St Mary s Trivia Night Celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist Year 6 Caritas fundraising stalls Bookclub orders due Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God. The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive others. Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts in which the Holy Spirit is poured out upon us. For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.
