From the Desk of Fr. Chris This is the last Sunday of the liturgical year, our liturgical New Year s Eve, if you will. Commonly referred to as Christ the King, the proper title is a mouthful - The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. What always strikes me about this and the next two Sundays of Advent is how the themes and celebrations mesh together so smoothly and time seems to fold in on itself. Prominent the next few weeks is the Parousia, the second coming. The Greek word itself doesn t really have a qualifier, meaning the presence, attendance, or arrival. From now to Christmas we transition in our celebrations from the second to the first Parousia of Jesus seamlessly. That s true for the daily life of a disciple, too. This time of year, everything around us seems to shift gears. The stress level goes up. Everything and everyone get more busy. We re pulled in many different directions. Don t get lost or jarred about! Keep doing what we always do remembering who we are and what we are about, discerning what is precious and what is frivolous, and keeping in mind Who is important and Whom we follow. Fr. Chris We welcome all who are visiting our Corpus Christi Faith Community for the first time or are frequent visitors. We are honored by your presence. If we can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to call on us. If you would like to become a member of our Parish, please complete one of the Registration forms located in the Parish Office, at the Community Center Bulletin Board, or on our website at www.cccctucson.org Corpus Christi Has Gluten-Free Hosts For those who wish to receive Gluten-Free hosts at Communion, we have them available at all Masses. To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host. BREAKING OPEN THE SCRIPTURE WITH FR. CHRIS Gatherings are on Friday mornings at 9:00am in Conference Room A/B. This is a free-flowing discussion of the Biblical texts led by Fr. Chris. Come in and check it out! All are welcome. When I was in prison, you visited me. Matt 25:36 Please join us to write Christmas cards to the men and women in the Eloy Detention Center on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 12:00pm. If you have any questions on this ministry, please contact Alma 612-6085. ATTENTION PARISH VOLUNTEERS If you are a volunteer in any of Corpus Christi s ministries you need to complete the Diocesan Safe Environment Annual Training program. Please SAVE THE DATE for this year s training in the Community Center Hall. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 6:30-7:30pm Corpus Christi s diocesan approved Safe Environment Plan stipulates that only volunteers who have completed this annual training are allowed to participate in ministry. This year s program promises to be dynamic, relevant to the abuse allegations around our nation, and is an opportunity to meet the new Safe Environment Officer, Danielle Eckhoff. ** Speed up day of registration by emailing your RSVP (Include your name, contact phone number, and ministry involvement) to deckhoff@diocesetucson.org ** Yoga Classes at Corpus Christi! Volunteers Needed Help a Corpus Christi tradition continue! Every Tuesday, two or three different members of Corpus Christi come together to prepare soup at Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. Two to three hundred cups of soup are served each day of the week by volunteers. Corpus Christi has been making soup every Tuesday for over 4 years!
